Haha, this has to be the thread of the year.

Fingers crossed he comes across someone like Drogba to fire us into the champions league.  Grin

I am in regular contact with Quam via PM. He is a genuine guy. Don't worry, he is quite safe. He is at Uni in a big city. He is streetwise and knows talent when he sees it. Let us just let him do his job without hindrance. It's very rare that Wanderers get the chance to have a proper scout in place in far off Africa. We must embrace this fortuitous situation  and grasp the opportunity with both hands.

Well, i wouldn't like to get u lads too anxious to the extent that my reports looks any disappointing, but i promise to put in the best i can.

Since i wouldn't be traveling up n down the country searching for football talents, i don't think any of you should bother yourself  too much about my safety. I'll be limiting myself to the southwestern parts of the country in which i'm very familiar with cus i reside there. My scouting would cover 3 states in the country,
1> Lagos- this is actually my state of origin
2> Ogun- in this state i've spent most years of my life because my parents chose to be based there
3>Oyo- this is where i'm presently at, and its where i'm having my university studies..

The film Le God watched should have more to do with the eastern or northern parts of the country.
Note that i've already started the scouting in within my university and would be extending the search after exploring the whole of the institution.
I wouldn't be moving within the 3 states for scouting purpose but would only be in any if i have to go..
Example is, summer holidays take me out of Oyo, and i have to go to Ogun, Special public holidays(christmas sallah e.t.c) takes me to lagos too celebrate with my families. I can assure you wherever i find myself i'll connect with my guys and go scouting..
If you have any other question i'll be glad to answer.
Thanks

Maybe you could contact Jay Jay Okocha and tell him you're our new African scout. He could get you some good contacts I'm sure.

Do you have any football qualifications?

How do you intend to rate the players?

Will you be going to professional football games - if so what sort of level are they compared to the English game?

Best of luck!

@dave
sorry nigeria is a big country, u don't just buck into celebrities like that on the streets.. But if the management at Bolton could link us, it'll make things much easier.

@sluffy
No i don't have a qualification in football, except you want to include those on Football Manager.
But i can assure you i understand the game enough to point out a good player with promising potentials.

I would only be watching games that involves young players as i've been told to provide players groomable for the team from youth level..
The nigeria premierleague could well be compared to the english league 1 football..

BADEN POWEL NIGERIA SCOUTING REPORT.

Week 1

I got started with my scouting program in my University of study, I was quick to visit the university sporting complex which is always filled with number of students participating in one sporting activity or the other. With the aim of observing the number of players participating in the game of soccer in mind, I got there only to find out there are too many over aged players. So then I went around until I was able to spot a group of teenage guys playing a 6 aside type of game with a short type of goal-post (mostly called the monkey post around here). I took my time to watch and observe each individual play, until I was able to spot a guy who played well enough to impress me.

After taking a short clip of this guy moving around with the ball, I had a brief discussion with one of the guys watching from the sidelines. He assured me he was very familiar with the lads playing, and without declaring my full identity as a BOLTON SCOUT, I persuaded him to identify the best of the players on pitch. After which he pinpointed the guy I already noted, and another guy. He also told me they were all out preparing for an Inter-floor Hall Tournament(each floor in the blocks of a hall selects their team to play a league tournament) which is scheduled to kick off this coming Saturday.

After I collected some info about both players, I stayed around to watch them play more and particularly study the second player. I avoided making direct contact with them for now, so as to avoid any sort of simulation or unneeded act as they play. I intend on going over to see them play in the tournament and if possible, get other players to put into my case study.

Spotted players      Location     Positioned     Occupation
K-leb                      Uni-Ibadan   Mid-fielder    Student(botany)
S.J.P                       Uni-Ibadan   Defender      Student(elect-engine)

The first player spotted was said to be a good midfielder even though I saw him play as a forward, while the second was said to be a good defender as I was told he is terrific when it comes to breaking the opposition’s proceedings, positioning and tackling. He made few decent tackles while I watched him play.

After rounding up at this side of the Complex, I still went around to check for youngsters but only fond most overgrown and even the young ones I saw play were not very impressive. Week in week out, I’ll keep tabs on all the players I’ve spotted and monitor them so as to know their weakness, strength and if or not to recommend them for the team.
If any question is available, I’ll be glad to answer.

Special thanks to Mr. Gadd, Reebok Trotter, for offering me the task and putting my papers together and to all the Fans of Bolton on the Burnden Aces Site for the encouragement shown to me.

Dar, it is obvious that you have took to this grooming business like a duck to water. Mr Gadd is currently on holiday  in Bristol but I know he will enjoy reading your report on his return.

The guy with the red hat is wearing what looks suspiciously like a United shirt. Please tell him that this is unacceptable.

It's one of the most important things to look for Mr.Quam. Have a word with them and advise them about wearing dmb clothing. It could cost them a move to the Premier League as we won't be taking anybody with dmb connections.

Dar, it's a tribalism thing. Wanderers do not like anything associated with Manchester United. If they choose to wear such a shirt then they are not worthy of your attention.
