They must be so pleased they got rid of Allardyce!

The Blackburn Rovers manager, Steve Kean, is to appear in court next month after being charged with drink-driving hours after his side's draw against Manchester United.

Kean was stopped by police officers in Cheshire on Saturday night and provided a positive breath test. He was subsequently released on bail and will be free to take charge of Blackburn's crucial Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Cheshire police said: "At 8.50pm on Saturday 14 May, Cheshire officers stopped a Mercedes car on the M6 southbound carriageway, between Junction 18 and 19. The driver, a 43-year-old man, provided a positive breath test. He was subsequently charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and bailed to appear at Crewe magistrates' court next month."

The former Fulham, Coventry and Real Sociedad coach was appointed caretaker manager at Blackburn after Sam Allardyce's sacking in December and became permanent manager one month later when he signed a two-year contract. Rovers are one point clear of the relegation zone, having settled for a 1-1 draw as United claimed the Premier League title at Ewood Park on Saturday, and face their final game of the season at Wolves, a team they beat 3-0 at home in December.
