Good to see Eidur scoring for Iceland!

Beckham is on the bench so will have to wait for the big 108.

The side is:
David James
Glen Johnson
John Terry
Phil Jagielka
Ashley Cole
Shaun Wright-Phillips
Michael Carrick
Gareth Barry
Stewart Downing
Emile Heskey
Gabriel Agbonlahor

Also just noticed that Portugal are playing Finland. I heard Makukula has been called up, would be ironic if he scores against Jussi after all the flack he's received over here so far.

Pointless, pointless games. Such failures and picking shite like Downing and Heskey wont change that. Still fail to see why 5000 or so travel over there to watch games like this, complete waste of money, surely?

Big Mak called up? No, he wasn't. Not for this match anyway.

Ricardo Gardner, provided he recovers from a knee injury which ruled him out of the Everton game, will face team-mate Danny Shittu when Jamaica travel to Nigeria tomorrow night, while Ebi Smolarek (Poland), Johan Elmander (Sweden), Gretar Steinsson (Iceland) and Ariza Makukula (Portugal) have all linked up with their squads ahead of the midweek friendly action.

Full time. 2-0. Spain showing us how far we've got to go if we want to win anything.

I didn't think we were ever in the game to be honest.

I cant believe Cappello chose Heskey over Cole and cant believe he chose Downing at all.

We are a shite international team, we have not kept a clean sheet in about 6 games and have scored 17 out of 25 goals in the second half of a game against mostly mediocre opponents.

Other games worth anything to us.

Portugal 1-0 Finland - Second half Ronaldo penalty won it, Jaaskelainen brought off at half time.

Austria 0-2 Sweden - Second half goals from Elm and Kallstrom. Don't think Elmander played.

Nigeria 0-0 Jamaica - Shittu played, don't know about Gardner but I think he would have if he was fit enough after Saturday.

Iceland 2-0 Liechtenstein - Again, I don't know if Steinsson played. Gudjohnsen scored.

Portugal 1-0 Finland

Well done Marado - but you couldn't beat Bolton's number one in the first half!

I really admire Jussi for several years now, he is to me one of the best and consistent GK i've seen in the lad decade. He is a hard worker, strong mentality and fights for the emblem of the team!

About Portugal, just one big "LOL". Carlos Queiroz called up a series of players that haven't even been playing in the last weeks or months for there clubs, this is scandalous for me, we have the most important two games in the qualifying round to win or we are out of the race of the 2010 World Cup.
We have been looking for a Left Full Back since the end of 2006 and nothing...no one to fill in the spot left by Nuno Valente, we've had a problem in this position for the last 5-6 years, just no one good to fill in the blanks. We have no true Striker, he insists on calling Hugo Almeida who with alot of will, just can't get the job done.

Called up players that haven't been playing for there main squad in the past weeks, months.

Dudaon loan to Malaga from Sevilha (he is and always was a Forward Left Winger, Queiroz wants him has left full back)
Tiago Juventus box-to-box - hasn't played for the past 2 months.
Paulo Ferreira - Has played only 1 match this season
Gonçalo Brandão - Played 3 ou 4 matches this season in his club Siena
Orlando Sá - Hasn't played this season in the main squad.

I'm telling you, Carlos Queiroz won't qualify Portugal to the WC 2010. He is a crap manager. He is only good has a Assistant Manager. His teams don't play football, everyone does what they want, no team spirit, no game construction, no passing order or mentalities, Portugal National squad is a place where you show yourself to the World so your agent can sell you as fast as he can. Why do these week SOB always get influenced by the lobby's in the game, they get paid high very high wages and still get compensated is fired and still they are just WEEK has pussy cats. arrgghhh eheheh Smiley

Well last night what can I say!!! We where totally outplayed by a dynamic midfield with great passing and movement.
The goals did come from basic errors Jagielka's poor pass for the first goal and then Upson and Terry not picking up their men on the free kick.
There was a few players having a shocker, Johnson, Ashley Cole, James and Barry

It is poor when you are relying on at 33 year old to provide you goals, which I must say he was our most effective player. Shaun Wright-Phillips did have a good game eventhough most of it was doing Johnsons and Ashley Coles jobs.
Heskey held the ball up well but had no support, it just seemed like we could not pass and hold onto the ball at all.
