God learns in the Bible.
The deist is just wanting to feign knowledge though. "I have no idea what is out there or what it might be, so I'm going to call it 'God' so that I feel like I can identify something". His use of the term 'God' is meaningless. He says he uses 'God' to avoid listing all possibilities, but that means that 'God' could mean literally anything; and thus means nothing. His position lacks any semantic content.
Said deist was me. I dont want to 'feign knowledge' at all. My belief is as I typed it out, I believe in a force of some kind that is effectivly divine, I choose to call is God as its as good a word as any and saves on saying god/God/extra-dimensional creature/flying spaghetti monster every time. As you say 'God' could mean virtually anything, know I cant say what God is or isnt. Though I'm fairly certain its not a big beardy cloud man.
I'm aware that this isnt anything provable by any stretch and am willing to alter my thinking as new evidence or ideas come to life. Deism isnt a set religious tennant, we arent centralised or have the same beliefs, I wont rule out being wrong as I just dont know!
