With the SNP winning a landslide north of the border, they are planning on taking steps towards independence, so I ask you, what do you think?

I'd have no problem with it, myself, I would support Scotland if they chose as a majority to be independent.

I get the nasty feeling though however, that if they did split off, we'd only be coming to their rescue in a few decades anyway. At the same time, if it's what the majority of people living there want, then fair do's,

The Majority of people here don't want it; i doubt it'll ever go through unless cameron comes up here to argue against it.

then it'll be landslide yes.

We should impose a visa fee on any jock wanting to visit England. Does Hadrian's wall need a bit of repointing? Get the benefit scroungers working on that.

I don't see why not, see how they cope on their own. They pledge to hate England anyway so let them go and do as they please. Does that mean the end of the UK then as a whole? It isn't much of a kingdom with England, Wales and a tiny bit of Ireland is it? Rule Englanda?

If they want to be independent, then fair enough.  As far as I'm aware they don't, on the whole.

At least it would stop Celtic and Rangers every joining the English league.

I don't see why not

Well the argument against it is that they are bought and paid for.  They joined the union in exchange for us paying off all their debts, so really it's like asking for your house back after you sold it.

Like I said, I don't mind.....but it's still a touchy issue legally.

I once visited Glasgow and most of the sweaty socks I came across were very anti-english. I get the impression they have a chip on their shoulder having watched films like Lionheart and Rob Roy.

He was indeed but played for Scotland so is Scottish. Just like Owen Coyle is Irish even though he was born in Scotland.

The only downside with giving the jocks their independence is that the Cornish will most probably jump on the bandwagon.

Before we know it the Tiddy Oggy Party will want to break away from the mainland.

Were you offered a "feece fulla heed?".

It is amusing that the SNP got a massive boost following the release of Braveheart.

The Cornish can go too. And they can take their shitty pasties with them.

Build a wall with the left over bricks from the one required round Liverpool. Set up loads of CCTV and we can safely watch live Mad Max Thunderdome type episodes on a daily basis within a few months.

I was just quickly looking through the situation (see if I could find facts and figures rather than just what people claim) and I found this quote from 2007 that made me laugh. No idea why.

Quote
Optimistic nationalists claim Scotland could be as prosperous as Ireland, Norway, Denmark or Iceland

I would insist on it. Strict conditions would be that they don't get another penny of English taxpayers cash, and they remove all Jock MPs from Westminster.
