He could well have been dead for years for what it's worth. He hasn't been the leader of Al-Qaeda for years (that's a guy named Ayman Al-Zawahiri, and, don't worry, his time will come soon enough. Nothing will be gained by him dying, other than a massive popularity boost for Obama, a couple of suicide attacks in the Middle East for revenge, and the enduring message through-out history that absolutely no one has ever survived messing with America...

I think they have known where he has been for years and I think it's very suspicios that just when Osama wasn't doing that well in America he pulls this one out of the bag and he is the greatest man on earth all of a sudden to the american people.

Killing Bin Laden won't change a thing in my opinion it just makes the Americans look good.

I agree, don't know how much will change, the celebrations are a bit premature, I think that things will get worse now that he's become a martyr...

I don't know much about his right hand man who has been seen on photos with him in the past so I can't really comment.

The images of the americans celebrating it in the streets the day after were a bit odd in a way, like you say the celebrations maybe a bit premature.

I am sick and tired of reading about this plush mansion he was living in. Looking at the pictures it seems to be nothing more than a concrete shoithole. Plush ? Palatial ? Luxury ? For Johnson Fold maybe. He was living in a rancid weasel pit FFS.

Ten years. Trillions of dollars. Thousands of soldiers dead. State of the art technology. The US finally found Bin Laden...........In his fcuking house!

I don’t think that’s exactly right.  I think they were aware of the possibility of his presence in the compound in August but only just now decided they had enough intelligence to go in there.  Remember they were doing this inside Pakistan without Pakistan’s knowledge so they had to be pretty damned sure or it would have caused severe friction.

It’s not going to be the death of Al Qaeda but it’s a severe blow.  My understanding is that al-Zawahiri is smarter than bin Laden but not nearly as charismatic and this is going to make it even harder to get any money, which was already a problem.

I consider myself politically moderate but this was definitely a fist-pumping “USA!” moment.

I can understand the Americans wanting to celebrate the death of a bloke that killed thousands of their own people.

Please explain why people celebrating the death of a mass-murderer should get a grip, and people celebrating an overpaid ponce scoring a goal are "normal".

Irrespective of the scenario: it's the fist pumping and yelling "USA" I have issues with.

Yes, The USA, the world's most powerful country, who took 10yrs to find him.
The CIA couldn't find their own arses with both hands.

Why? Substitute the USA bit for Bolton Wanderers and it's just your average home game at the Reebok.

Please explain why people celebrating the death of a mass-murderer should get a grip,

If "they" killed Bin Laden in Abbottabad then "they" also bombed a large number of wedding parties in Afghanistan, "they" murdered 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha and "they" gang-raped a 14-year-old before murdering her, her six-year-old sister and their parents near Mahmudiyah. If "they" don't want to be associated with the atrocities then "they" need to find more to celebrate than an assassination. Vengeance is, in no small part, what got us here. It won't get us out.

Actual scum.
