So, the UK has a referendum on May 5th to decide on the future electoral systems in UK General elections. Should we adopt the alternative vote or stick with First-past-the-post? Does anyone have any strong feelings either way? Will you vote? What do you think is the better system? Does anyone still like Nick Clegg? Are you still awake? A few wikipedia links on what is happening and what these things mean: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...ferendum,_2011http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_votinghttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First-past-the-posthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referen...United_KingdomThe electoral comission is an independent organisation set-up to oversee elections standards and rules and things like that: http://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/You should have had one of their booklets through your letter box explaining a bit about this. Personally, I will be voting for AV. I'd rather we had a proportional representation system, but AV is a step in the right direction. It should, in theory, lead to a more balanced system where people can actually see their votes mean something if they dont vote for one of the big two.

I'm far from miserable. You're correct I am a man Christopher. If you want to give personal details to the goverment for them to sell on to questionable companies feel free to do so. I prefer to write 'Shove it up your fúcking arse' on it and return to sender.

Far funnier to make stuff up. I pretended to be a 35 year old balding fat man from Horwich who's only link to the outside world is paying the pizza delivery guy.

I'm guessing your "Shove it up your fcuking arse" census is more likely to get the fine.

I couldn't care less, they're both too complicated. When I won the 'Head Girl' vote at secondary school it was simply a case of the winner being the girl with the most votes. Easy.

Yes he did - it was racist - so it was removed. There are a number of regular posters no longer posting on here now - hence why we've had much fewer posts over the last month or so. We simply can't carry on losing good posters so I've managed to contact one or two of them to find out why and the biggest reason seems to be the racist remarks and abuse posted on here by just one or two people. For the good of the site the racism and abuse as to stop now before it kills the site. As for the census, there will be ten's if not hundred of thousands of households not completing them, so I doubt very much that many of them will be fined at all for non completion.

I am voting against AV on the basis that Nick Clegg is in favour of it.
Re the census, its results apparently are used to judge the level of facilities required for the coming years ie schools etc. On the date of the census the very nice family next door to us (at least 7 of them including 4 young children) were out of the country on one of their regular extended trips abroad, so the results will show an empty house. Apart from the obvious distortion this will show, I thought it was against the law to take children out of school during term time, yet this family do it at least once every year, for 2 or 3 months at a time.

And yet both of those offenders continue to post. You and manny are the only ones in a position to do something about it, so it's no use moaning on here. Perhaps if you addressed the root of the problem the site might be a busy place come the start of next season?

Well the writing is on the wall - we now have definite proof that racism and abuse are turning even well established posters from here, away. It simply cannot carry on any more, it's gone well beyond a joke now and is killing the site. The offenders are both smart enough to know what they are doing and to change their ways if they like this place and don't want to bring it down. The balls in their court for now – I hope for everyone’s sake, that is where it stops!
