The Word "Banter"

Is it just me that gets annoyed by the overuse and misuse of this word?

A couple of years ago it just meant two or more people having a laugh and joke about one another! Now, its almost as if pretty much any sort of conversation in general can be somehow classed as "banter"!

Everywhere you go its "banter" this and "banter" that! What is the obsession with this word all of a sudden? Stop using it....and if you really have to use it, use it properly!
