Big Fight on UFC tonight on ESPN. Lancahire lad, Michael ' The Count ' Bisping taking on Jorge ' El Conquistador ' Rivera. A lot of trash talking pre fight. My money would be on Rivera if I was a betting man.

I have money on Bisping. Is Rivera the same guy Lee Murray beat in his one UFC appearance? Before he got 20 years in jail.

That's him. He has been on a roll recently. He gave Kendall Grove a good hiding. He is getting on a bit but he has a deadly right hand and I think Bisping may take him too lightly.

Bisping and Pearson did the business. Lytle and Blackledge the wiggin wánker let me down.

I thought it was a good event, I think we need a UFC thread so I can keep up with each event as I never watch ESPN other than for football, so never have a clue when it is on.
The guy who faced BJ Penn was robbed.

I haven't seen it yet. I saw that Penn v Fitch was a majority draw. How is it a draw when 2 judges scored it as a draw and the other gave it Fitch? Surely he should win.

I thought that, they must call it that 2 out of the 3 think it is a draw therefore it is.

How did Bisping look?
He looked pretty good, he did an illegal knee on his opponent in the first round when he was on all four's and had a point deducted but he carried on and had too much speed for him in the second and the ref jumped in.

He's a decent fighter but not quite good enough to be a champion imo. There's a few fighters in his weight division who would probably knock him out.

I'll put up a list of fighters for the next event and we can pick who we fancy and see who comes out on top.

Dave, I have only seen a few BAMMA fights. There are quite a few breakaway organisations but my favourites were always Pride and the UFC. The UFC now has the monopoly and that is where the money is. A bit like the PDc in Darts.
That Jon Fitch was unlucky against Penn. Fitch is another awesome fighter. The only time I saw him bettered was against GSP.

This is basically an all in fight. No head butting, biting or low blows. You can do more or less anything else though. Hopefully we'll get to see GSP against Anderson Silva some time soon.

I was a big fan of boxing from the Ali days but MMA is far better. I will get the card for the next UFC event and put up a list of the fighters. If I spent money on betting on UFC I think I would be well up compared to the Gee Gee's.

Sharpy is correct. UFC 128 is on ESPN in the wee small hours of Sunday morning. If anyone fancies a bet these are my selections.
Mauricio ' Shogun ' Rua vs John ' Bones ' Jones. I see Rua winning this by stoppage. Jones is a young up and coming respected fighter but Rua is the dogs bollocks. He should win this and my money would be on Rua.
Kurt Pellegrino vs Gleison Tibau. Tibau is the Jiu Jitsu expert and will be the favourite to win but I can see Pellegrino grinding out a victory over 3 rounds providing he can avoid Tibau's submission attempts early in the fight. Tibau is too muscle bound to push the pace for 3 rounds so the longer the fight goes on the more I fancy Pellegrino to win.
Uriah Faber vs Eddie Wineland. Faber is the former Strikeforce champion. I think he will win by KO or TKO.
Rafael Assuncao vs Erik Koch. Assuncao to win by submission.
Jim ' Mayhem ' Miller vs Kamal Shalorus. Only one winner in this one. Miller all the way for me either via ref stoppage or TKO.
Nate ' The Great ' Marquardt vs Dan Miller. Miller is one tough dude but I just see Marquardt being too strong and having too much experience for Miller. This one could go the distance and if it does then Marquardt will just edge it.
Mirco CroCop vs Schaub. Crocop via TKO. He has too much experience for the up and coming Schaub.
Luiz Cane vs Eliot Marshall. Cane to win either via submission or stoppage. He should outclass Marshall.
Mike Pyle vs Ricardo ' Big Dog ' Almeida. Almeida will be the favourite but I think Pyle will take him. Almeida is a submission specialist but Pyle is no mug. I see Pyle winning this by KO or decision.
