There's been discussion in the Transfer Rumour thread about players like Diouf, Marlon King etc. My question is, should footballers, if they have been done for assault, spent time in prison etc; be allowed to continue playing football professionally? I know this would have a big impact and not necessarily in a good way. I mean, say if famous footballers like Rooney, Ronaldo and the such, were cut completely from football for whatever reason; it would diminish the footballing sport on a national scale but the other side is, it might make footballers think twice about what they do in the future.
It's up for debate; what do you think. Would this make the footballing sport "better"?

I'd be interested if they'd get another job so quickly after they got out of the nick if they weren't footballers.

The F.A must be fcuking soft as shite if they let footballers such as King and Lee Hughes get back into the game, not only back into the game but at a high level.
I can't see it making the sport ''better'' as such but I just think it's fcuking ridiculos how they just stroll back into a club like nothing has ever happend and for example Lee Hughes he is a so called hero at Notts County now just because he was part of the side that got them promoted.
The games fcuking bent and some serious back handers go on to allow these players back into the game.

If somebody is willing to employ them then I do not see the issue, if they was arrested for something involving football then it might be different but these incidents all be it wrong was fcúk all to do with football.

Our society and prison system operate on on the assumption that offenders can be rehabilitated, as such we can't really deny footballers the right to reenter society and work their profession.

fcúk off I am not having that last part at all, so if you do something wrong outside of work that has nothing to do with the job your doing then it doesn't matter to your employer? If you got put in prison for beating the fcúk out of your wife do you really think your company would keep you on?

If you were good at your job, another rival company would employ you. All's fair in business.

Traf / Big Sharps: You'd find it hard to get the same calibre of job if you had been sent down, if you were in any other job. I'll refer to Diana's post.

If you were in very well paid job and you were sent down, after coming out nobody in there right mind would give you a job anywhere near the same standard/pay bracket.

What the fcúk are you on about, those 2 players you have mentioned was released from there contract and was not kept on by there employer. After there release they was taken on by 2 different clubs.

Not the same employer but exactly the same kind of job at the same level. You work for Virgin media, do you think sky would suddenly offer you a job if Virgin let you go for beating the shíte out of a woman?

If you're good at your job, there's no reason why you wouldn't get another similar job, if your conviction was totally unrelated to work and didn't involve a potential security risk.
Obviously if, for example, you robbed your employers for £100k, a rival wouldn't take you on. However, if you're a fully qualified electrician and you get done for football hooliganism, for example: there's no reason why you couldn't get another job.

Not the same employer but exactly the same kind of job at the same level.
Hughes signed for Oldham following his release and they paid him a tenth of what he was earning when he was at West Brom. Hardly 'the same level'. I think, if I were sent down for something, I could earn similar upon my release (in relative terms).

I don't think Marlon King fits into the category you are talking about.

He's served his time and now should be allowed to continue his career.
He's an utter cock, but he should be allowed to play.

The short time he spent in prison will not have reformed him. He's not an utter cock he's a sexual predator. But that's a society issue that he's allowed in civilised society.

So if you were done for assault, you could still get another job at a similar level? I just find it hard to believe that an employer would employ someone who has that on there record but hey, you learn something new every day.

They normally plead guilty & get done for affray which rarely impedes employment.

I'm glad that we're able to educate you. Anyway, got to go for a while: need to check in with my probation officer.

Not all employers check your criminal record when you go for an interview.
