If so, what are you backing today?
I fancy these:
Kempton: 4.05 Kuala Limper (11/8 Best Odds Guaranteed with B365, Boyles, Betfred or Corals) won
Lingfield: 12.55 Orchard Supreme : 2nd at 8/1 1.55: Al Jaadl also 2nd! Got caught right on the line!
Southwell: 3.10 Timesawastin : 3rd
For those not sure what BOG is: if you take for example the 5/1 on the first race and it wins at 7/1, they'll pay you at 7/1. If it wins at 3/1, they pay you at 5/1. BOG is the minimum they'll pay , but it can drift.
You can also just punt it on Betfair, if you wish.

You might aswell have typed all that in chinese because I haven't a clue when it comes to odds and these so called BOGs. Why are the horses doing different times Traf?
Because they are running at different times in different races?

I like a bit of gambling but I'm useless at betting on horses. I don't really follow them much so just have a quick look at their form and then usually back one Dettori, McCoy or someone I've heard off is riding.

I'm not a gambler myself but plenty people are. I understand the simple stuff, for instance - Lingfield: 1.55: Al Jaadl (3/1 BOG Betfred) There is a horse running at the 1.55pm race at Lingfield called Al Jaadl, which if you bet a pound on, and it wins, you will get £3 back. (obviously there are other horses running in the race too - but Al Jaadl is the one Traf is tipping to win it). I'm lost with the more technical stuff done on the computer - which I think is the way most people do it these days. I know enough that you open an internet account - I think you can do it directly with a bookies - Traf as listed some above such as Betfred and Corals - OR you can open an account with Betfair which is betting against other people on that site (rather than a bookmaker). You can of course have internet accounts with both a bookmakers and Betfair at the same time if you want. I think the big difference between the two is that on Betfair you can also (if you want) bet AGAINST the horse winning - you bet on it to LOSE! I'm lost with the odds on the internet - although I don't think they are hard to grasp if you are interested in learning them. If people are interested in betting (not necessarily just on horse betting), I will happily sticky this thread. I guess I better add something like you can of course lose money as well as win money when betting - so act responsibly!

Law of averages says we must get more than 2 a season. You're right though I'm a mug.

You could do worse than follow his tips if you like a dabble.

I keep hitting the crossbar. Both came second today!
2pts staked
The 0.5pts E/W on Mr Jay Dee returned 2.1pts for a small profit of 0.1pts for the day. Still early days, though.
After 2 days: 6 horses = 6pts staked 1 winner 5 placed
Loss of 1.52pts.

No, they're all straight win bets, unless stated otherwise.
It's only a small loss, which is manageable. The methods I use to find my bets often have quite long runs of losers, but they will make profit in the long run.
My strike rate is around the 25% mark normally and tends to generate approx 1.2pts profit per bet. So, since posting on here, I've had 6 bets: my averages would suggest 1 winner from the next 2 bets and I'll be 9.6pts up after them. It doesn't always work that way, of course, but over a longer time frame it tends to.
I derive the bulk of my income from the horses, but backing them to win only forms a small part of my betting activity. Most of my work is done finding horses that are underpriced that aren't as good as the market suggests and I then back them to lose (ie I lay them).
I won't even begin to try and explain how the laying procedure works on here, I reckon it'll be too complicated, as many of you don't even bet at all.
