Bloody hell they're dropping like flies in the Championship today, Darren Ferguson has also gone.

Preston North End have sacked manager Darren Ferguson with the club bottom of the Championship table.

The former Peterborough boss, 38, took charge at Deepdale in January, but won only 13 of his 49 games in charge.

A statement on the club website read: "The club expressed their appreciation of the efforts made by Darren.

"We felt that the league position represented a significant threat to the club and it was felt that a change of manager might bring better fortune."

Ferguson's last game in charge at Deepdale was a 3-1 defeat by Middlesbrough on Tuesday and Preston sit five points adrift of 21st-placed Boro in the table.

Hang on is Ian Dowie still jobless? I'm sure Sloth would join one of them.

Another 47 sackings this week and Megson might start to get a look in.

He's still below Carlton Palmer and Phil Neal on the wish list of most fans..

I'll take the heat off you, Sluffy.  Like father like son on that front.

Phil Brown is favourite to fill his shoes.

He deserves to be sacked for ringing whiskey nose every 2 seconds for a loan.

They should never have sacked Alan Irvine.

Thank you.

I thought it deserved its own thread and I figured out a way to do it and still give you credit for the opening post.

Hope you didn't mind.

(PS What's happened to your avatar after all this time - nothing showing to me, not even a red cross (like Weststander's) - maybe its because I view in ie?

After deciding to get another one I've had issues uploading as it doesn't seem to work for me anymore. To get by I'm currently using this one in the 'I have my own pic:' thing. You probably can't see it due to IE.

Sir Alex Ferguson has reacted to the sacking of his son Darren by Preston North End by recalling two of the Manchester United players who had been on loan at the club and starting a potential legal battle to make sure a third cannot play for them again.

Quite an interesting story here if anyone is bothered -

I know he's his son & all that but I think it's unprofessional and churlish. If the lads' careers are affected by this behaviour I hope one of the lad's dads twáts him.

To be honest, if I was in AF's shoes, I'd have done the same.

I was saying to people at work yesterday that this drunk jock prick would do that and surprise surprise he does, the man has about as much class as Katie Price.

The guy was doing a piss poor job at Preston and more often than not had them piss away winning or point winning positions late on, he deserves to be sacked and they look half way down already.
