York'll probably muster a couple of thou... 8,435 total attendance. Part of me does want a draw though. Even though it would draw criticism no-one would care aslong as we won the replay and York would be a great place for a midweek night away.

York would be a great place for a midweek night away.

I went to our League Cup tie at York in 91/92.It was a pleasant late summer evening and a couple of hours were spent in the city  but I found it  quite a dull football experience.
My other visit to York was in 86/87 on the May Bank holiday. It was either them or us for a place in the relegation play offs and they defeated us on what was possibly one of Bolton's worst 5 days of the 1980s.There were running battles with the police after the match as a section of Bolton's support couldn't handle the defeat and looming play offs.

Reserves, squad fillers, soon-to-be-gone'rs & youth players do NOT a cup team make. Haven't we learned that lesson yet ?

Basic spine of first-teamers, rest no more than 3-4 (and have them on the bench), take no risks.

As said earlier, we beat York on the way to our last FA Cup triumph. Let's treat that as an omen and give it our best shot for once.

I was a schoolboy and got myself a ticket back in 1958 and persuaded my parents to let me go - my dad found his cousin was going and persuaded him to take me. I must have been a pain - he was with his drinking mates & I must have cramped his style, God bless him.
0-0 draw, and I couldn't go to the midweek afternoon replay coz I was at school. Ah, the good old days. lol.

What a tie we have. No doubt York are happy at playing away to a premier league club but I doubt they'll be as happy when we put five past them.

£15 minimum: set by the FA.

They will be lucky to sell 1,000 home tickets at that price to watch our reserves against York.

Does anyone really go to matches like that to watch football?

It's all about the day out and visiting a ground/town that you wouldn't normally isn't it? The result of course is important, but going to a match like that isn't all about the quality of football on display.

A slight gaping error in my last post.

I started posting, answered a phone call, and got it into my head that someone was talking about a possible reverse fixture at York when I continued it.

Begging your pardon m'lady

The planning expert at Bolton underestimated Lincoln's following last season so i've just spent two minutes doing some homework for whoever it is.

York took 1,400 to Darlington at the weekend and 4,000 to Stoke in the FA Cup 3rd Round last season.

I'd make sure you have both tiers open and all the usual turnstiles open in the South Stand.

And all upper tiers in the home sections closed as we simply won't need them. I remember that Lincoln farce last year, they were all queuing outside for the first 20 minutes of the game. They were not happy in their local press if I remember rightly.

Ticket prices are as good as it can get if the minumum adult price is £15

Wonder if they could have reduced kids tickets to £1 though?

Anyone remember us going out of the cup to York 2-0???

morning all,

York fan in peace.  Looking forward to my trip over on the 8th, especially as all the other half's family are Bolton fans.  Just wondering where is good to drink?  Been over a few times but normally go into Chorley to see her family and have a few pints there before getting the train.  Fancy a change so where do away fans normally drink?

The Beehive pub. It's about 20 minutes walk away from the Reebok.

As Squidgy said The Beehive is where away fans tend to go (although I would probably say it's about 10 minutes walk, 15 minutes tops, do you hop Squidgy?!)... or a bit further is The Bromilow which is always a popular one. With it being an early FA cup match you might be able to get into Scotts Bar which is next to the stadium but they don't tend to let away fans in for a league game.

Just out of interest, do you have an idea how many fans you're bringing?

Most pubs should be away friendly, there's absolutely no reason for them not to be. However I doubt any away fans will be allowed in Harvester's or Scotts without a home ticket, as per. I know it would be unpopular and make us look rubbish but I'd really love this to go to a replay. It would be great to visit a new ground.

Cheers for the help.  Think the plan is to ale it up in Manchester before heading over that way so probably head to the Beehive then.

We sold out the bottom tier (3000 tickets) in three days and the club were saying they had about 1400 left only in the top tier a couple of days ago. We haven't had a home game since they went on sale either so I would imagine we'd sell the lot (4900 i think we were given).  We took 4500 to Stoke last season at the same stage (we took the bloody lead too before losing 3-1) and I'd imagine more will want to go to Bolton due to easier location etc.

Should be a cracking atmosphere from our lot (I know you lot wont be too fussed about it).  The middle section behind the goal has been bought by one lad for 300 like minded "divvies" so they'll certainly be some noise.  I was in the North Stand the other year when you drew 0-0 with West Ham at the same stage and was impressed with their support and noise that day. Just hope we can score first, that'll do for me!

Apart from our Carling Cup final in 2004 we've been totally horse shíte in the cups since I can remember. We fell at the first hurdle this season against Burnley, we lost to Northampton Town at the Reebok a couple of years back and we lost to Bury a few years ago at the Reebok as well, so I would be quite confident if I were you. On those figures you'll probably end up bringing more than our lot but I'll no doubt be there.

The ticket pricing for this game is in my opinion a disgrace.

£15 for an adult ticket for the FA cup against conference team York City.

It should be £5 for an adult ticket, £10 at the very most.

I wont be buying a ticket for this game at £15, id be surprised if we get more than about 8,000 for an attendance.

I don't think the club is allowed to lower the prices anymore than what they have.
