I am unsure of what the fcúk you are on about but if it is an American assumption then it is probably wrong, tell them to stop playing football until they call it by its rightful name.

Also do you wear a cowboy hat?

Well it is compared to 11 - aside (obviously). Allot more responsibility I find.

No, have just got electricity and indoor plumbing
Google does not tell the entire story I want to know how real communities do things
not how the big club youth programs work

Basically, in the junior leagues in the UK, primary school children pay what is known as mini-soccer. It's 7 a side on a pitch roughly half the size of a full one, with smaller goals.

Unfortunately, at 11yr old+ they go straight to 11 a side on a full size pitch and it's awful to watch. The successful teams just leave a fast kid on the halfway line and belt it to him.

My opinion is that:
5-8 yr olds play 5-a-side with a size 3 ball
9-11yr olds play 7-a-side with a size 4 ball
12-14yr olds play 9-side on a 3/4 size pitch with a size 5 ball
15yr olds and over play 11 a side on a full pitch with a size 5 ball.

What Traf said. I did my coaching badges over the summer and that's the way they do it over here. The little ones just want to have a laugh. They all follow the ball around but still develop an understanding of the game.

At age 11 they are introduced to the proper rules and start to learn more about the tactics. It's only when they reach 15-16 that they need to focus on fitness because that's when, usually, a person stops growing and developing into a young adult.

many thanks again
I have been coaching for about 10 years
I have found teaching tactics at about age 9-10 will work well with the better players but is far above those who want to meet friends and be social
After age 10 I feel things get far more competitive
Teaching tactics is hard on its own but trying to teach them on a smaller  pitch I feel would be next to impossible

The Brazilians only play 7 a side up to about 15yrs old and they use a much smaller ball to encourage close control.

I make my kids walk around with a practice ball at there feet at all times when at home (got that from Stu Holden)
It makes a huge difference on the first touch
Teaching a mid to play a ball into space is the biggest obstacle I face on a short pitch
Any help would be great
