Arsenal are currently losing to West Brom by 3 goals to nil at home.
Can we do this tomorrow against United? If not, why not?
We supposedly have better players than West Brom have so what are we missing?
I would even go as far as to say the West Brom fans went to the Emirates thinking they could win. We never really approach these games with that kind of belief.
Having said that, 20 mins left, you know what Arsenal are like. A penalty and a bit of a class and I wouldnt even rule them out from winning 4-3

If some of the fans had been asked to play in these big games over the past two or three years we couldn't have done any worse.

The fans dont go to the games expecting we can do something most of the time. We always have our "lets be realistic" heads on. Maybe its been brought on by the performances over the last couple of years. I just think it's a sad thing that we all rightly, and jointly expect to lose against the big teams.
Have the fans lost optomism? Have the team caused it?
I just want it back, and I think its a combination of atmosphere and performances that can bring it back.

Yes we can, will we? Unlikely. We'd have to put in the performance of our lives and hope United have their worst performance in a few years. If we fail to beat United 3-0 tomorrow it won't be because we are missing anything. West Brom are just having a good day at the races and Arsenal are playing poorly. I don't know how you know what West Brom fans were going to the Emirates thinking like...

2-3 now.
jimbo, i get your point but it just illustrates my point even further in a way.
You are already resigned to defeat. Why do we collectively accept this as ok? If we know we are never going to win against the big boys why do we even bother?
By something missing, I mean in terms of expectation from the fans. And in terms of a belief amongst our players on the pitch. We seem to not have that belief in ourselves when we are on the pitch (from the players) you can see it in the body language. They don't have that "up for it" look about them when they come onto the pitch or when they areplaying.
You must know what I mean. That look of being really up for winning. The look that you see in a team when a division 2 team takes on a prem team and you can see they have a belief. We miss that.
With a bit extra mentally going into games we could potentially get more out of them. When we first got promoted you didnt turn up to the reebok thinking, "oh well we are going to lose today" - you turned up with full faith that your team could produce on the day and you had a buzz about the game and an expectation that we could really take it to them and bring them down a peg. Where has that feeling gone?

They even missed a penalty, will Man United take advantage of Chelsea and Arsenal losing? or will all 3 lose in the same weekend.
I think there is added pressure on United now.
Brilliant result for West Brom, I think we can safely say when we play them next week, it isn't going to be easy, this should give them great confidence.

I reckon we'll pick up a scrappy 2-1 away win. Gret result today and all credit to them. I'm more concerned about their home form which is impressive that the random, freak result they got today. That said, when a team of our level gets a wonder result like they did this week, they often come crashing down to eath with a thud, and they will do next week when they get beat at home by Bolton!

Because the team is full of gutless wankers. When we go 1-0 down you know we aren't coming back against one of the big 4. You hope to keep it to 4-0 but expect 6-0. Even when we were 2-0 up at Arsenal last season we bottled it. Until we get a manager with a bit of steel we will always be the whipping boys.

We pulled a goal back against Arsenal a couple of weeks back? Yeah we lost the game, but my point is we can get back into games.

I'd like to think we can win every game we play. But we can't. We shouldn't accept it as given that we'll lose to top four teams, we should go out and give them a game- but at the end of the day, if we don't win I'm not going to have a go at the players/fans attitude. Their team costs about 300M ours costs about 30M. 2nd bold: We've just drawn with a much better Aston Villa and deserved a win. We stuck with Arsenal until Cahill went off- were the worst team, but stuck with them. We came from two goals behind to draw with Birmingham so I disagree entirely. I think that the attitude is there, just need a little more application at the right times. 3rd bold: Hasn't gone for me. Think we have a chance against anyone, just realistic enough to say there are some games that we won't get anything from. Sometimes I'm proven right, sometimes I'm happy to be proven wrong. We're in the position of only be strong favourites in 2 or 3 games a season. We're strong underdogs in about 10-12 games a season. The rest could go either way. That's just the way it is. We can go into a game for example against Sunderland at home with all the optimism and "we should win this" mind-set in the world, they'll be going into it with just the same feeling. Only one team can win.

We're good at what we do-
We go out of cup competitions very early. Never really trouble any of the top teams Beat enough teams around us to get between 36-41 points.
Probably the most predictable team in the league as we don't cause upsets.

Very fucked off by this result. Take it from me, if you ever call a result before and think you are right, put your money on it. Don't let anyone talk you out of it. Don't oversleep and then think "it'll be fine it will never happen anyway" because it just might.
This was mine. I can't remember the bookmaker but on the Friday I saw it at 14/1 but had to go to work soon after, and was there until the late hours. I should have got up early to put a fiver on it (my chosen stake, almost every time) but didn't, woke up a bit before 3 and thought... nah it was a long shot anyway.
Wrong. Always back your instincts. £75 that mistake cost me.

In the "old days" Didle. This is the new, deteriorated United who can't seem to keep a lead.
