My phone died a death the other day and my mate is kindly donating me a '3' phone that he got as an upgrade and didn't want.

I'm going to google it, but am notoriously thick when it comes to anything technical.

Anyone any idea how to unlock a 3 phone for an Orange SIM?

Try putting your door key in the charger socket and it should work from there.

Take it to an Asian whose retail outlet is situated at a junction of 2 streets.

I was trying to do it via the internet without forking out. 3 phones are notoriously difficult to unlock (apparently) and the model I have doesn't appear on the sites as one of the ones easy to unlock.

I could pay 15 quid to 3 via my mate, but hate that company with such a passion I'd sooner buy a new one rather than give them a penny.
