I was reading an article this morning about some women who took her own life because she was being bullied. Not bullied in the street, at school/college, or work but on the internet.
And just now I've read a thread on here where Didle keeps going on about bullies on here making his life a misery.
So my question to you is does internet bullying actually exist? I say not.
If you're being bullied at school or work then I can imagine it's difficult as you have to go to those places, you can't just stay in bed. But if you're being bullied on the internet, say on a football forum like this one, don't you just stop coming on here full stop? No one knows who you are or where you live, it'd even be pretty simple to just close your account and start up with a new username a few days later.
I'm no Frasier Crane, but I suspect people like Didle and co who claim to be victims of bullying actually enjoy the attention. But I'm willing to be proven wrong.
Is internet bullying real?

Suicide is a "cop-out" in this situation, but there are situations where it is not.

I would say it is real but if you let the bloody internet get you down; how you are going to cope with actual "life problems"; I really don't know.

In a word, No. It is not real society, it's a microcosm which you can step in and out of it as you wish. I think many cannot distinguish between the real and cyber worlds which is their problem not the internets'. People have said to me in the past, oh you're alright really aren't you? Meaning? Well, you're a bit of a bitch on forums aren't you? They usually then get the wrath of DP/NB for not being able to understand the concept of personnas/alter egos/exaggerations of ones real self. Idiots!

The 9-11 jumpers is an isolated incident. They didn't have a choice. They were going to die either way, and took the easier way out. Can't argue against that, although they did kill someone on the ground, although it would take a pretty callous individual to blame them for that.
When someone has made a decision to kill themselves on a specific time on a specific date and weren't a victim of circumstances beyond their control, as in the majority of suicides, whatever the circumstances, they're weak and selfish individuals.

I personally felt the 9/11 jumpers could have given it 30 minutes or so.

If we must. It's far easier to escape internet bullies in an environment such as this. Therefore, if a poster tops themselves due to 'bullying' on an internet forum, I'd have even less sympathy for the gutless bastards as I do for other suicides. Close enough to the topic for you?

Internet bullying is a load of shÃte. Didles has accused me several times recently of bullying him. If I was threatening to twat him at the match I would agree that I was a bully. As it is all I have done is take the piss out of him. If that's bullying Didles is going to have a very tough life when he finally leaves mummy and daddy.

Internet bullying is as real as the value placed on the community/group by the individual. For the average person, it's as easy as turning off the computer, but once a person's identity has been changed by virtue of being a member of a group or what have you, "virtual" or otherwise, the negative effects are as real to them as the importance they give to the group. This is why its unwise to take the internet groups seriously in the first place unless they are backed up by real life relationships. Suicide is for the weak , cowardly and selfish.
Not true at all, but I get that it's the common sense view.
