Word is, is that Lita has a bad attitude.
Coppell is an honest guy so he has a problem with Lita.
I think Megson would not get on with Lita either.
Sounds like another Michael Ricketts to me.
Not for me thank you.
As for Davenport may well be £1.5 million down and the rest add ons - up to £3m.
Seems a good bit of business to me.
I don't understand the general fans attitude - we cannot afford to buy superstars for every position. Today the clubs account were published - it shows we ran at a £8 million loss last year and have a £40 million debt - and still the fans want us to spend loads more!!!
Buckley one for the future at only £200,000 (that's only two weeks wages for some Premiership players!) worth a punt.
Puygrenier - emergency cover at Centre Back - on loan - seems ok to me on that basis.
Can't get over the fuss about Denilson either - not done anything in over eight years!!!
Must just be me I guess??

The Puygrenier one gets me. Guessing he's a centre back, if Davenport comes in, we don't need anyone else, unless somebody is going.
Being linked with Denilson is bound to put some people on a high because of what he's done in the past, but as Sluffy said, he's done nothing recently. But a deal until the end of the season will do for me if he impresses on trial.
The rest to me is just paper talk.

If I recall, before Cahill got injured and Shittu's played in the last couple of games wasn't he linked to be going to some midland club - Birmingham?
Maybe there was something in it?
Anyway didn't some unknown French defender called Laville turn up out the blue on loan one January window not so long back......?

True, I've had a look at this guys stats though and considering he's been around for quite a while, he's not played too many games.
If he comes and is prepared to be a benchwarmer, then fair enough, but I'd rather stick somebody like Fojut in.

The only thing I know about the bloke is what I've read but despite his relatively low number of games - wasn't he voted the fans player of the year one season - and didn't he get picked up by Zenit (who had a few quid to throw around on decent players). Fojut as very little experience at all - a loan spell at Luton and a couple of nothing games for us. Think my vote would go for experience if we really did need one of them to step up in an emergency. Anyway we still might get the fella from Hearts yet!

Megson's said we've agreed a fee for Davenport but we're looking at other players.
My guess is if we get this guy from Zenit, the Davenport deal won't go through and if it doesn't the Davenport deal will go through.
Good decision in my eyes, we don't need two centre halves, we just need one who will push his way into the side.

Sounds about right.
Good call earlier on in the thread Manny, seems you got in spot on about just one or other player required. Well done.

The Puygrenier deal is almost done according to his agent. I wonder if this spells the end of the Davenport deal then. http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/1/8/Exclusive-Puygrenier-agent-on-move/gnid-34566/“He will sign with Bolton at the start of next week, on Monday.
“We have agreed on the terms of the contract, it’s crystal clear.
“He is not going to speak before the deal is done.
“I can tell you it’s going to be a loan with an option for a permanent move.”

Probably if Puygrenier is signing on loan, saves around £2m that could be spent elsewhere!

Or the money could be spent on making his move permanent in the summer if he does well.
After Sluffy posted the financial results yesterday, I can't see us spending too much this month.

Borrowing money, spending it on transfers and wages and building up debt is not a problem just so long as you can pay back the money when it becomes due.
The financial report only gives you the position of the clubs finances at that point in time - it may have got bigger (Elmander's transfer may not have been included in it) or smaller (we may have received some Sky payments since then) or stayed about the same, since the report was made.
The fact that we are looking to get players in on transfers suggests that the club is confident about its financial position and the debts it as. That is not to say though that we should splash the cash for the sake of it.
As I understand it much of the debt is owed (or underwritten) by Eddie Davies. It is just as crucial therefore that his finances have not been effected by the Credit Crunch - like the Icelandic owner at West Ham and the Russian at Portsmouth have - hence their need to sell players to lower the debt burden.
For what it is worth, my view is that we are in a fairly reasonable financial position as a business - but we are dependant for some £40 millionish of our revenue each year from the Sky / Premiership money. If we were to get relegated we would lose a big chunk of that (we would still get some as a parachute payment for two years) and then the shíte would hit the fan.
It is for that reason Bolton must do whatever it can to stay in the premiership - hence the that is why they do not to vigorously go on cup or European runs - even though it does piss many fans off.
However they would be a lot more pissed off if the club was in a position like Charlton, Leicester, Southampton, Leeds, etc, are now.

Another stunner!!! BOLTON have made a dramatic £2million bid for Joey Barton.
The controversial Newcastle midfielder, 26, has just returned to training after recovering from a broken leg.
Barton has been linked with Portsmouth but Bolton hope a move back to the North West is more tempting for the Scouser. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article2111937.ece

Barton's off the field problems are worse than Diouf's. We'd be better off without him.

I agree, he has a lot of heart and is very talented when on top form but his history has become a joke, for me he should still be in prison. I would like a CM though I just think McCann or Nolan could be replaced (preferably the latter), what about Alan Smith?

Besides, never understood moving him to central midfield when he was much more effective as a striker. Do agree that we need at least one new central midfielder though.

Yeah! I just feel that we lack something because McCann is getting on a bit and Nolan never seems to do anything, any suggestions for a central midfielder Danny?

Hmm, its a difficult one as the ones who are going to improve us are unlikely to move in January for a reasonable amount of money. I was pleased when we were in for the likes of Morrison and Richardson as they would improve us i think but both seem unlikely as neither team would want to sell to what they see as a relegation rival unless we offer stupid money.

Thats because old red nose thought he was the 'new' Roy Keane.

Yeah i was really pleased to hear we were after Morrison, I wish Megson hadn't been so stubborn and offered a little bit more for him because he's a quality player, I doubt Richardson would come to the Reebok though. I, personally would go after either Gary O'Neil or Nicky Bailey!

Who the fcuk is Nicky Bailey?!
Was happy to hear we were after Morrison because I think he's BETTER than what we've got. Richardson would have been a good shout too but like you say, I doubt he'd join us.

I would love to see Morrison in a wanderers shirt and like u said, i wish megson would have loosened the purse strings and snapped him up. I wouldnt mind seeing ferguson from rangers, i hear there is speculation of him moving away from the ibrox. What are your thoughts??

Again though, after seeing the financial results, we can't afford to keep splashing out on players, even though we'd all like to see it happen.
As for Ferguson, not for me. He was shite at Blackburn, only an average footballer for me, and that's in Scotland!
