I still think its VERY unlikely and with City's interest, they could easily price us out of a move.

Although, if we're paying £12m for a player, a two-year contract is absolutely crazy! Unfortunately I don't believe the source that Marado has.

I don't believe my source also, it's 90% bullshit. eheh. They are most likely using Man City in the press to force Bolton to make a higher bid, that's what usually happens in these negotiation, the players agent says "I have a higher bid, so what's it gonna be Eddie?" eheh

But i also don't believe that Man City is going to buy Veloso, they just bought Nigel de Jong and have Gelson Fernandes, Dietmar Hamann, Michael Johnson and Vincent Kompany to play in that midfield position. Elano, Ireland are creative midfielders  so lots of alternatives in the middle. What City need is to sell players, they have 32 players in their main squad, this team is crazy!

I guess that is the only deal we could get though.

If we did get him (and listening to what Marado tells us that there are better and cheaper players available) then I guess he would not stay more than 18 months anyway before he moves to a bigger club (a bit like the Anelka deal).

Anyway all this speculation certainly is far more exciting than having non at all.

I must say once again Marado your English is fantastic - I don't know a word of Portuguese and hardly any Spanish - very well done to both you and your teachers.

Thanks! I'm canadian born, my parents are portuguese, i live in Portugal since the year 1990.
Since I can remember, I've spoken english, french & portuguese and studied these languages also throughout the years, i speak and write a couple more!! eheh. Portuguese language has more verbs tenses than the french language, not an easy language to learn, takes a little more time for people to learn it in comparison to the english language.

You've certainly got a gift for languages then.

A bit of news from the Bolton side of the Veloso story.

There is a poster on another Bolton Forum (Wanders Ways) called Tylswhite who has a reliable contact from within our club and he sometimes posts information on what is going on.  This is the first thing he has posted on the transfer which was a short while ago -

"Just had word that we are struggling to persuade him to sign, we are trying to convince him that move to us would get him a move to a big club eventually but hes stalling on it. I guess hes waiting to see if any bigger fish come in for him?"

i just read hes waiting for man city to make a bid  Shocked  but like Marado said there are a lot of midfielders already there at least if he comes to us he wont sit on the bench

Quote
Miguel Veloso is waiting for Manchester City to make a move after Bolton made an opening bid for the Portuguese international. Bolton boss Gary Megson has offered Sporting Lisbon £14million up front plus a 20 per cent future sell-on clause for Veloso, who is certain to head to England before the transfer window shuts on Monday. But big-spending Mark Hughes also wants to sign the 22-year-old, with Veloso and his advisors setting a deadline of Saturday for a deal to be sealed.

This is from the players agent on SSN

Quote
"It is important to notice that Bolton are not alone. Manchester City have already shown interest in him," said Barbosa.

"Basically, what is happening now is that clubs are expecting to see what other clubs could offer, in order to make their own bid.

"He (Veloso) is not allowed to talk too much now about this subject but he is looking forward to seeing clubs reaching an agreement."

Barbosa does not believe that Veloso is certain to leave Sporting, but he expects a decision on the 22-year-old's future in the next 48 hours.

"What may block the negotiations? Well if the bidders do not offer what Sporting Lisbon are looking at, for example," added Barbosa.

"Probably, between today and tomorrow, there might be an outcome on this issue."

Bolton haven't made an official bid for Marc Zoro, he should sign for Blackburn this week.

Thanks Marado.

How are Benfica doing - are they after anyone before the transfer deadline?

There has been no real speculation about players in this winter transfer market, but we do need a right winger, we bought Balboa from Real Madrid for 4M€, but he has failed to deliver every time he has been used. The only news that had been brought to public in the media is about some players in the end of there contract that Benfica have asked for information through there agents:

Axel Witsel - 20 yrs old - defensive midfielder from Standard Liège (future Belgium star, has played since U17, U18, U19, U20, U21 national squads and has now 5 caps for the main national squad). Was considered one of the best players last season. (Better than Veloso and much CHEAPER)

Moussa Sissoko - 19 yrs old - Box-to-Box from Toulouse (Started in the main Toulouse squad at the age of 17 and is now a regular in the main eleven start up, also played in the U21-France national team)

Diego Bisewaar - 20 yrs old Offensive Midfielder/Winger from Feyenoord - Highly rated by is coach and national U21 coach.

Benfica play today again Rio Ave at 19h45 +GMT. So if anyone wants to take a look at the match just go to :

Thanks Marado - looks as though Benfica is looking to the future as all of those you've named are under 21 (I wish I was!).

Thanks for the link - I might have caught the last 30 mins or so of the game - I had taken my daughter to London today - shopping - for her birthday treat - and have just got in - but Manny as removed it.

He's a bit keen at removing links - but he would get in trouble with the site owners if he didn't - so I don't blame him doing it.

Maybe we should form a little group of people who would like to be sent a pm of a link when their is one - I'm quite happy to watch a little bit of Benfica when I can - you never know I might even get to learn a bit of Portuguese!

Anybody who is interested post below.

Hope Benfica win for you Marado - come on you eagles!

(I must sound like a Palace supporter!!!)

 Grin

EDIT -

Benfica 1-0 Rio Ave

Mantorras (70)

Go eagles!!!!! - who do we play next then Marado?

 Cheesy

I've said it elsewhere, I don't mind you PMing people with streaming links, we're just not allowed to do it publically.

I don't want to remove links, but if I have to I will. Just got to keep within the stupid law unfortunately.

A 'Stream Request' thread could be set up if need be.

If it doesn't break any laws Manny it might be a very good idea to set one up and 'sticky' it.

Might encourage some visitors to join and stay a while.

Megson - bids in for two (Veloso and Davis???) and interested in two Huh -

Quote
Bolton have been priced out of the race to sign highly-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso.

Newcastle and Manchester City have also been linked with the Portuguese international, who could fetch in excess of £12m if he leaves Sporting.

"The amount they want, I wouldn't feel comfortable paying, and nobody else will," said Bolton boss Gary Megson.

"As far as I'm concerned it's finished. We've got two offers in for two players and interest in two others," he added.

What it doesn't say in there is the bids are for a Premier League player and a Championship player.

That's what he's said on SSN. My guess is Davis and Harper/Ledley as we saw in the papers this morning.

Interesting Manny - I'd not heard that before now.

For the first football stream here it is - It is ligit so you don't need to delete it Manny!

Trouble is I think it only works for those in Britain.

The BBC's Match of the Day (live video) - only just started and we've not been on yet!

I don't mind people posting links to the MOTD stream.

We're allowed to do that because we're in the UK and the Beeb are official license holders. I watch it on the tele instead!
