My PS3 got the dreaded Yellow light of death[YLOD] last night, it just stopped whilst in game and it wouldn't start, went from green, to yellow then a flashing red light[a bit like an Xbox RROD] and my FIFA 10 was stuck in the PS3.

Anyway as it's past it's warranty, it was send it back to SONY, buy a new one or check the internet for help, I could have taken it all apart and sorted it that way, but YouTube came to my aid.

15-20 minutes of heat from an hairdryer in the back vents, then a standing fan to cool it down for 20 minutes, and it now works.

So if anyone as this problem, try this method, got my game out and backed my files up just in case it happens again, if it does, I prob will end getting the slim PS3, but was waiting for a PS4.

 Cool

I was gonna get a Slim ps3, but I thought why 'cos my ps3 worked fine, but if this problem continues I think I'll buy a new one and transfer my backup saves.

Uncharted 2 for me.

that is definitely up there.

Both Uncharted, Dead Space, Assassins creed series and GTA IV probably the best games i've had on the PS3 after MGS4.

It would have been easier to wrap the console in foil and then wrap it in a towel and put in the freezer for 20mins.

That often sorts the problem.

Balls! just fancied a few games of COD before I took dog out to the lake and it's gone again Sad, well it lasted almost a month, so I'll try it again when the rest of the household have woken up, so I can lend one of their hairdryers. If it happens again, I'm buying a new one. Sony gaystation!

This is the best method.

Stop fannying about with hairdryers.

Game suck!!!

My PS3 went again this morning, I tried it again and it only lasted 5 mins wtf!!!!

So I thought fcúk this, and rang up game, some silly automated woman was on asking me questions, then I get to speak to someone after being on hold for like 3 minutes, I asked if they had a slim ps3 120gb in stock at the Bolton town store and he said yes, so I goes to town and ask for one, they have none wtf !

So I trecked all the way to Argos and they had one and I now have a brand new PS3 slim 120gb costing £250 have managed to get my old one back on and hopefully it will last long enough for my data utility transfer to complete.

If you get you're old one working long enough to be able to sell it to game and cash generator than I would do it, I did that with my barely working 360 once I got a ps3.  You wont conning whoever buys it because they will have a receipt and warranty so they will get a replacement or their money back.

Diddles, quick question.

How does a unemployed (unemployable) 23/24 year old numb nut such as yourself have £250.00 lying around for impulse buys such as this?
