Was a good finish actually, considering he lost his balance and had to adjust his striking foot at the last second.  I'd take 15 of those from Elmander Smiley

The commentators yesterday had their kleenex out regarding Hernandez didn't they.

I watched the ITV highlights last night and they were wanking themselves into a frenzy over the first goal. Sorry, did I miss something? It was a long ball hoof, a diagonal run, a speculative cross on the turn and some poor defending. Lets just say that if it was Knight hoofing it up to Elmander to cross for Lee Chung Yong to score, I doubt we see the same level of appreciation. It would be a "typical Bolton goal".

Just because it was United, or more importantly Rooney, it has to be put in the world class bracket. Balls to it!

No to be fair it was a good goal. The ball from Scholes was pinpoint, the one I had issue with was Rooney's It could have been brilliance, but he didn't look up at all, so he may not have even known about the run. I thought at first he was going for the deflection to get the corner, missed him, but Valencia made the run to bury it.

The third goal was really nice though even if it was Berbatov. We need a pick-me-up goal like that for Elmander, something to kickstart his BWFC career.

I think Rooney had a picture in his mind, he didn't look up, but he did look though to the right wing before he crossed it, probably knew Valencia was gonna run into the box.

To be fair to Scholes, I wouldn't call them hoofs, he played the same balls with perfection all time, Knight punting it is a hoof.

Like I say it could have just been fantastic awareness, but it was possible that he got lucky. We'll never know. But either way it was a very nicely worked goal and one we'd be creaming ourselves over if we scored it.

It was Rooney though.

Hate the guy, wouldn't credit him even if he passed that ball over his head with a blindfold on.

I really wouldn't. I honestly don't think it was that good. Scholes is a quality player, don't get me wrong, and is the best central midfielder England have produced in the last two decades in my humble opinion. However, that ball was hardly one of his best. He had all the time in the world due to it twatting one of the Chelsea players in the face. It was a speculative ball played into the channels for Rooney to chase. Had he played him in for a goalscoring chance, fair enough, I would rave over it too. However, he played a decent ball over the top for Rooney to run into the corner whereby he took a chance and twatted it accross the box for Valencia to get a tap in.

Hardly world class. I would hardly lose my load over it even if it was scored by Bolton.  I'd put it down more to poor defending by Chelsea than the ability of the United players.

If pre season is anything to go by[which it aint] Chelsea are not goona be the force they have been. Both them and Man City have lost a lot of games.

That 'Chicharito' looks a talent, he had great touch, that goal will go down as a header won't it.

Think United lost a couple too. I fancy us to win the league.

We could have gone on a cup run last year but for the fact we drew teams better than us. Shame that.

I know there are better teams than us, but we have the players to beat teams on our day. As long as Bolton don't play the reserves and give it their all in the games then Owen won't get any stick like Megson did when we played Sporting or like Sam when we played teams like Bury.

It depends totally on your league situation at the time though. If we are in the relegation mire and have a 4th Round League Cup tie on the Wednesday, then a game against someone like Wigan on the Saturday, I couldn't blame the manager for wanting to do what it took to get a win in the league game - even at the expense of the cup game.

Obviously if you are up around 9th then I'd expect to go full tilt for a Wembley run.

Anything less than a trip to Wembley will be deemed a failure.

I think, on current form, there's a distinct likelihod of them coming away with sweet FA this season.

I had them to finish 4th at the start. And also Chelsea to win the Charity Shield... its probably best I never put money on things.
