Nicky Hunt ended his association with Bolton Wanderers after joining Bristol City. The 26-year-old right-back, who progressed through the Whites' academy, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Championship side.

Good luck to him, not nearly as bad as some made out.

If that's the legacy he is leaving us (a youtube clip of him calling gary neville) then it's not exactly great.

Good luck to him though, Bristol will have a good side next season with Maynard, Hunt and I have been told David James is going there aswell.

Coppell tends to build decent sides, but you'd think the Hunt has signed a two year deal in order to allow him to leave if they are not promoted by then.  If they continue to make decent signings they'll have a fair shot at it.  They needed a new centre-back and a holding player after last season, and they have those now.  Hunt is probably better than Orr, so that's good.  Maybe we can play him in the Premier League in a year or two.

Petrov vs Hunt.........hmmmmmm.

Hunt was a first class scumbag.

He never put in 100% effort or a decent cross. Or a tackle.

One of the worst defenders I have ever witnessed at Bolton.

Hunt was poor, but I don't think Diouf[being an example] would agree with the bit in bold

Well I remember when he came through he was potentially a very good player for us. Up until his shoulder injury (I think it was 2005?) he was quite a solid right-back and had a good cross to boot. But Joey O'Brien took his place and he never really got it back, even when JOB wasn't getting in the side. Whenever Hutn played following that injury he made me nervous, and when the fans got on his back it only snowballed.

He served us well in the early years, but it has taken us far too long to get rid of him in my opinion. Allardyce refused to do it, Lee never tried it, Megson couldn't shift him. Coyle's managed it, and another major part of Deadwood FC has been dismantled. He might not be tearing up trees on the "in" part of the transfers but you can't argue he's shifting some of our perennial reserve rotters now.

Didn't nicky hunt put in that incredible cross for Dioufs diving headed goal in Europe?

If that was him he did put in a decent cross.

I though he had a brilliant cross in him, probably the best aspect of his game I think. However as Chris said, after he had his bad injury, he never recaptured his previous form and has gone down hill ever since.

Well I stand corrected, it seems we actually were able to get him off our books without too much fuss.  I would love to know how much we had to pay him out.

Good luck Nicky, I'll remember all the times you made me scream in frustration after getting caught way, way up field allowing the opposition to nick one on the break.

There's no indication of that.  There has been a lot of speculation that we have paid him to leave but it seems to be assumptions rather than anything substantial.  For all we know he could simply have agreed to end his deal.  It does seem likely to me that we gave him some money, but for it to have moved this swiftly it would seem reasonable to think it's not a huge amount; the time taken indicates there wasn't much need to haggle.

I said a while ago that we could get rid of squad players if we were prepared to make the deal easy for all parties and it looks like we are.  I still expect Riga, Shittu and Samuel to be gone by the end of the window.

Hunt joined at Bristol by David James.  Promotion push for them this season, it seems.

Can't think of many right-backs in the Championship better than him.  He was shocking for Bolton after his decent start here but he has enough about him to kick-on under a good manager like Coppell.  Look at how amazing Nolan looked in the Championship.  Hunt will look good in that league and with David James (the equivalent of a World Class keeper at that level) organising the defence they'll do well.

Just a cheap dig at a local lad that in my opinion loved playing for the club and would have stayed for the rest of his career if given the chance. Yes he wasn't the best but I think he'll be at his level in the Championship and along with the James signing they've got two very good signings for their defence.

All the best to Hunt, I wish him well and I hope they do get promotion next season, would be great to see him back at the club with another team.

Bristol City just lost their first game 3-0 at home to newly promoted Millwall. Hunt and David James both played the full 90.

They can't afford too many of those if they're serious about being promotion contenders.
