At least with Klasnic we are getting someone we know, and who we saw last season is a decent goal threat, this season he should get better service with the addition of Petrov, so should be capable of a bigger return than last season and will hopefully solve the striker problem
If City keep on signing players, ( eg Balotelli, Milner) they are going to be way over the limit of 25 come 1st September. So presumably they are going to have to release some quality players, no idea who at this stage, but hopefully OC can identify a couple of possibles and see if they are interested

I really do not understand the anti Benjani stance,he is fast and can work off Davies, and Klasnic.Ok the Onouah link maybe out of reach, but it would show ambition az I would really love us to push Benfica all the way for Moreno, but we need experience up top,and Benjani has it in abundance, don't forget Hughes paid top dollar for him,and Sparky aint no mug.
We don't need experience, if we sign Klasnic we'll have 4 experienced forwards. Benjani had a purple patch but his finishing is poor and his link play is nothing special. We can't afford to pay the kind of wages he's on if we get Klasnic. Davies, Elmo, Blake and Klas between them will be on over 100k a week. What we need is a young, fast and cheap player who can come on from the bench and make a difference. Don't forget that Benjani's Premiership goal rate is about 1 in 5.

It seems as if Coyle was holding this up his sleeve the whole window. Had we got any of our higher targets (Beckford, Moreno) then I don't think we'd have seen Klasnic back at the Reebok again. But with the options drying up and time running out I agree he could do a lot worse than bringing Klasnic back. He will be depth, and we know he can do a job even if not for 90 minutes. It still isn't the make or break signing, but we at least have some sort of competition for places up front now - if we do secure his return. If we can somehow persuade Wilshere to come back (or more accurately, for Arsene to let him) then I will be satisfied for this transfer window. And I have a sneaky feeling he will be back. Just a feeling. EDIT: 2000 up for Rabz

Aye fair enough az,we will look good up top,and midfield is strong possibly overstaffed, defensively we look lightweight,Robinson is a typical Megson player certainly not someone you need to be interacting with Petrov,as stated previously the 2 centre backs lack consistency,or at least a connection.Maybe there is a conflict of interest from their Villa days who knows.Steinnson is solid but prone to lapses, however his passing is quality. So in general from midfield forward we look ok,depends how Coyle organises his defense as to how we do this season, and to conclude as az says we still lack a true leader on the pitch, and for that please feel free to LOL,I would put in a cheeky bid for Paul Scholes.

I'll be more than happy with the return of Klasnic. Definitely excites over the idea of Nugent joining us.

I'd be very happy if this comes off. While he doesn't have the pace we desire, he knows where the net in and the deal which Nixon has mentioned seems very good from a financial point of view.
If we're still in for Moreno, he could bring the pace we require for a minimal initial outlay and wages. That said, he won't be ready for the Prem straight away so it's good that we have someone who can hit the ground running.
We wanted a goalscorer, hopefully this will come off and we'll sign a goalscorer, and with talks of a 'couple more' to come, it's is encouraging.

Brilliant news this Jimbo. No doubt he is our best finisher and if he gets his fitness up in pre season, then perhaps we will have a better player on our hands than we had last season.

I've just heard Klasnic has been "freed" from his Nantes contract and is discussing a move with us and other clubs across Europe. He is keen on us but also a move to Germany..............

Hmmmmmmmm. I can see this dragging on if there are other clubs involved. I always thought that the words 'completed by today' were always going to be unlikely. Here's hoping that we have the opportunity to speak to hhim first. He knows the club, he knows the manger, he knows the players etc. That should surely put us in pole position. Just hope it comes off.

This could be make or break in the sense that it would therefore now have to be a permanent deal and it depends on his salary expectations but I cannot see any German side other than Bayern, paying unrealistic £60,000 / wk salaries. Perhaps his agent is using 'German interest' to up the ante with us.

Ivan Klasnic (photo) and the FC Nantes go immediately separate ways. The 30-jährige Stürmer dissolved its up to 30.06.2011 the dated contract with the French Zweitligisten prematurely. This communicated its PR-manager olive joke on Thursday. The Croatian national player was lent in the last season at the English Erstligisten Bolton of rambler. There it help the club with seven hits to the class receipt.
Now Klasnic is in the search for a new association: „By the cancellation of an agreement with Nantes and a concerted agreement Ivan Klasnic is now free, in order to speak independently with the interested European associations. Already direct discussions with the club guidance of the Bolton of rambler take place, in addition, one speak with clubs in France, Germany and Spain already “, betrayed joke. „Ivan is pleased about the amicable agreement with Nantes and can introduce itself to play further in England. In addition, a return to Germany is conceivable for it under the correct conditions. “Klasnic played in Germany already for the FC pc. Pauli (1994-2001) and the sports association Werder Bremen (2001-2008).

I'd be quite happy to see him back with us.
If he can get a little pre-season with us and better levels of fitness then I'd be even happier. He needs to be able to play 90 minutes now and again.
Anything to stop the Di Santos rumours (as he's shíte) would be fine though.
Certainly sounds like we are in the driving seat to sign him, but I'm not 100% convinced Coyle actually wants him...

Ivan Klasnic (photo) and FC Nantes will now go their separate ways. The 30-year-old striker ended his contract with the French second division side, which ran until 30.06.11, early. This was announced by his PR agent Oliver Witz on Thursday. The Croatian international was on loan last season, at the English Premiership side Bolton Wanderers. Whilst he was there he scored 7 league goals, helping the side stay in the league.
Klasnic is now looking for a new club: "The termination of his contract with Nantes and the settlement are agreed to, Ivan Klasnic is now free to talk to interested clubs in Europe. There has already been direct talks with the leadership of Bolton Wanderers, as well as with clubs in France, Germany and Spain" said Witz. "Ivan is pleased about the amicable settlement with Nantes and would prefer to continue to play in England. But a return to Germany is possible for him, under the right circumstances. "Klasnic has already played in Germany, for FC St. Pauli (1994-2001) and for SV Werder Bremen (2001-2008).

That's what it says in the story.

Benjani was on £58k per week, he wants £50k per week to sign. Bolton aren't going to pay that.

I dont think Moreno will come mate and it would be a big gamble anyway, the premiership is the hardest league in the world to play in and for a young raw spanish forward who has never played top flight spanish football to hit the ground running would be a big ask.
