Toyed with sticking this in rumours thread but thought if it's going to come off- which from the article it appears it might- then it will probably carry some weight and is worthy of a thread.

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Bolton-set-to-tie-up-deal-for-Nantes-striker-Ivan-Klasnic-after-moves-for-Chelsea-starlet-Franco-Di-Santo-and-David-Nugent-fail-Exclusive-article541355.html

Nugent, Di Santo or Klasnic? Not a tough choice!

Here's hoping Nixon is on the ball and we can get a deal sorted.

Had a feeling this deal wasn't totally dead in the water, the story about him returning went away too quickly.

Klas isn't a world beater but he is 10times better than Nuget and I can't comment on Di Santo as I never watched him at Chelsea or Blackburn.

With the service I imagine he will be getting from Pet and Lee next season he could do very well.

The news I have been waiting to hear since the 1st of July, Klasnic is a goal-scorer, just what we need.

The 'come home' bit is nice to hear aswell, maybe he is willing to lower his wages after all.

Our team will look a hell of a lot more dangerous with him up top.

It's weird to think that we 'failed' in getting Di Santo and Nugent, so we are only now going for Klas.

When I first saw the Di Santo rumour, I thought to myself "shíte!".

When I first saw the Nugent rumour, I thought to myself "Not sure if he will be good enough".

When I first saw this Article, I thought to myself "fcuking get in!"

Klas is miles better than Di Santo and Nugent IMO.

Good news if we can pull it off.  I also like the bit about having room for one or two more in the budget.

If we do bring Klasnic in, do we need any other players this window?

Obviously if Wilshere becomes available, then we'll get him in, but then where do we further improve our squad, a young striker maybe? Another defender?

The Klasnic deal will probably include a minimal- if any, transfer fee, so I think that Petrov, Blake, Alonso, and Klasnic is a decent return for 2-3m, compared to what other clubs are spending.

Klasnic, Wilshere, a decent CB backup, and some pace upfront with who we already have got would be a good TW.

Even if Klasnic does come back, I think we'd still need somebody else up top. He completed 90 minutes once last season and that was on the last day. Would be happy if we can get him back on the cheap, but I think we'd still need another.

Absolutely.  We still lack a pacey attacking option and considering the fact that AOB and Shittu both appear to be considering their future with us (and the dreadful communication of Knight and Cahill) I'd say another centre-back may be needed, depending on who leaves.  In an ideal world we'd also add a midfielder who can pass, but I can't see it.  We do still need a right winger to compete with Lee.

Davies and Klasnic with Elmander and Ward on bench?

I could see Petrov and Lee providing so much on the wings that maybe we don't really need that much pace upfront, even though it would be ideal.

I would like us to get Klasnic and someone with real pace.

az I disagree with the Lee replacement, but the rest I do think we need a plan b in defense,Knight is far too inconsistent, and Cahill is prone to lapses now and again.
If we can get Klasnic back on the cheap, and ship out a few of the fringe players Coyle could do a lot worse than trying to test the resolve of City for Onouah, and Benjani, that for me would complete the jigsaw.

I didn't say anything about replacing Lee.  As it stands Lee is our only natural option for the right of midfield, if he gets injured we are down to using a central player out of position; so we need another option.

Onuoha is a quality player but I wouldn't want Benjani.  The Issue with Onuoha is that there is no way we'd blow that kind of money on a centre-back.

But az Benjani is like shíte off a shovel, depending on formations Coyle has in mind a front 3 of Davies,Klasnic, and Benjani could terrorise defenses with the quality of service from the flanks, and Onouah could be a potential loanee given the defensive numbers over at City, never say never.

I'd imagine if we don't get a recognised RM in, Blake will be there to cover Lee, as he played in Midfield most of the time last season for Burnley.

We could always get a younger Centre-Back from the lower divisions, Miles Addison would be a good bet IMO.

Oh, and a MASSIVE no to Benjani.

I think the pacey option is still Moreno.  We'll continue to chase him until he puts pen to paper at Benfica.

Onuoha on loan would be a superb deal, but I think he'd have clubs willing to buy him.

Blake can't play wide in the Premier League.  He has no pace and his conditioning last season was questionable; he just doesn't have the legs.

A young defender would be great, but I think what we need is a leader.

Knight was a leader last season- When Cahill was injured.

It's just irritating how they dont seem to have an understanding.

"When Cahill was injured" being the main bit.  Cahill will not be dropped and Knight goes into his shell next to Cahill.  Knight does not lead next to Cahill and Cahill doesn't lead full-stop.

Im willing to give them a chance this coming season.

If it still doesn't work out, it wont be a massive problem, we can sell Cahill for 15m! Grin

I really do not understand the anti Benjani stance,he is fast and can work off Davies, and Klasnic.Ok the Onouah link maybe out of reach, but it would show ambition az I would really love us to push Benfica all the way for Moreno, but we need experience up top,and Benjani has it in abundance, don't forget Hughes paid top dollar for him,and Sparky aint no mug.
