I can't see Alonso making much of an impact, at least for the first half of the season.
I'd imagine he may get a few cup runs, maybe at left wing or (more obviously) left back, but he's definitely one for the future.

Its good to see Coyle is looking to the future as well as bringing in experienced campaigners like Petrov.

It is, he's definitely in it for the long haul. That's why it's vital that we back him no matter what. Obviously there's a few fans who won't be happy if we don't win the league by 18 points but I really think if we can consolidate and edge slowly up the league over the next couple of seasons, we will be a permenant top-half team thereafter.

Fair point that Chris. I think if we manage to get into the top 10 in the coming seasons, we will have done very well indeed. I just hope that Bolton will be the small Lancashire club in the top half this time, rather than, the other team...

They
won't be in the top half next season anyway. The fans are slowly getting impatient it seems with their inability to do anything on the transfer front, and if they start poorly in the first few weeks they will turn on Big Sam an awful lot quicker than we did on Megson last year. And considering they have Arsenal, Man City and Everton in their opening four games they could well be in the drop zone by mid September.
