People keep mentioning Holden & Mark Davies. Both are unproven at the top-level.

Totally agree; but we've seen that they have the raw skills. E.G being able to have the ball at their feet AND look up at the same time.

Not seen it for a while at the reebok so it is a bit weird to comprehend.

Agree with Pedersen; the squad lacks any real quality.

the reason for that is Megson brought in a lot of players who could "do a job" so it left us with very few stand outs.

but hey he did bring in Lee and M.Davies who seem to have a bit about them even if it is very early days.

Muamba and Holden also have the raw skills but Muamba has awful ability in terms of shooting and decision making.

His tackling and defensive positioning is superb!

You mean you agree with JayJay - Pederson didnt say we dont have much quality - infact the likes of Taylor are on his list of amazing players. He was being sarcastic when he said what he did abbout scoring midfielders not being real premiership quality.

Im shocked and disappointed in how many of you have put Taylor in the top ten out of our squad. You really dont have high expectations and you really dont know what youre doing if you select him.

Do you just have something against players that score goals?

no.

re: goalscoring

I don't think you can say he is an effective scorer when he converted 2 freekicks out of 80 (one of which wickedly deflected in) last season and scored 3 penalties. It is almost a given that who ever takes the penalties will score.

And yes, i know penalties etc count as goals in the game but the stats are unrealistcallt bent in his favour.

If we had Ronaldo on free kicks and McGinley on penalties then Taylor would not be given a free bag of five goals.

He would have finished the season on a pretty standard 3 goals and pretty poor 1 assist considering he is a winger and free kick taker.

I suggested this about 3 years ago and was abused. Don't expect any different now.

Jussi
Al Habsi
Petrov
Cahill
Knight
Muamba
Holden
Lee

I cant even pick ten that i think are good enough to be in the top 10.

If they were still here:
Wilshere
Weiss

jayjay, you are an irritating little shite. I'm 95% you are Sir Nut reincarnated.

''It is almost a given that who ever takes the penalties will score.'

No it's not, look at Jermain Defoe, a very talanted goal-scoring striker, but he's crap at taking penalties.

Matty Taylor is a goal-scorer, the way he scores goals doesn't matter, it's still a goal.

Like you said, our squad is poor on quality and, as such, Taylor, whether you like it or not, is one of our 'best' ten players. I wouldn't have him starting personally, and I would have sold him if a good offer had come along, but he is in the top ten.

When you said you couldn't pick ten players, that was a cop out; what you really meant to say was that you didn't want to pick Taylor and / or Davies. Fact of the matter is, in our current squad, there isn't anyone better.

I like Holden, although I feel M Davies is overrated, but neither of them have done anything to warrant being included in the top tewn of anythign at this club. It's not to say they won't in time, and I think holden in particular could do very well, but they haven't done anything in their Bolton careers to prove that they have what we want and need.

(1)

                                                      Jussi

Steinsson                         Cahill                Knight                        Alonso

Lee                                   Muamba           Holden                       Petrov

                                         Davies             Elmander

(2)

                                                    Bogdan

Ricketts                          O'brien              Shittu                        Robinson

                                                  Basham
Riga                               Davis                 M Davies                    Taylor

                                                  Blake

Do you think that team Number 2 would be a good enough side to stay up? On the other hand, look at our strength in depth! Smiley
I think they did something similiar on Sky; exept it was for the Man City team.
