Just wondering who you would say are the ten players at Bolton who you would say are the best.

Don't base it on how many we have for each position or how much they would be worth to sell etc or even whether they would make a team together - just the best ten players at Bolton.

Reason why i ask - We often talk about who should stay, who should go, who should play where etc but our choices are kind of dictated by the way we expect Coyle to play or how long they might have on their contract or how old they are. So I am just wondering, without all the peripherals, who is best?

I'll go.

Jussi
Al Habsi
Petrov
Cahill
Knight
Muamba
Holden
Lee

I cant even pick ten that i think are good enough to be in the top 10.

If they were still here:
Wilshere
Weiss

Kevin Davies doesn't deserve a mention?

You might've started using capital letters but you're still a cock.

Just my opinion. If you believe it is wrong that's up to you. But you know what, I think your opinion is wrong too.

Moved to the right section.

How you can include Holden and even Weiss before Davies is appaling. Between them, they must have managed about 5 games for us last season and Weiss was useless apart from his Stoke cameo.

Weiss is a very decent player, a better talent than Davies by a mile and a half. Holden too I believe has a lot of talent and over this season I will either be proved wrong or right.

Davies isnt that good you know - Im not basing it on what players have achieved for us over the years Im basing it on who I think the most talented players are.

Depends how your looking at it.

If your saying servants to the club then obviously Jussi, Rikki G, and Davo are miles ahead.

If its in terms of quality, ability, upside, talent, then some of the younger lads like Holden and Mark Davies deserve a mention.

We really dont have that many quality players at the club.

Jussi
Davies
Cahill
Petrov
Muamba
Lee
Steinsson
S Davis
Knight
Taylor
Holden (depends how he develops)

All these players would get in a considerable number of other premiership sides.

We really dont have that many quality players at the club.

That was kind of what I was getting at - when I saw the thread on the 25 man squad thing and also somebody's comment that we probably dont even have 11 good players it got me thinking, and then it got me worrying. I looked at the squad again and realised that there really isn't that much real quality in the side.

Its a bit worrying. We have a lot of squad filler players but not that many who I think are amazing must start regulars bursting with potential and talent. We seem to have a surplus of players who should be back up at best. Its no good having 5 or 6 strikers for 2 positions if they are all just as bad as the next man.

I would rather have one or two really good strikers and 2 back ups who were poorer quality - as opposed to no really good players and no really poor players, just all average.

We look mediocre on paper.

I think yo are missing the point - Im talking about players who stand out compared to the rest. Not just Taylor cos you think his goals kept us up. Im looking for players who have real premiership quality. Taylor can barely run.

Weiss hardly stood out from the rest, Holden didn't have chance to and Knight only stood out for the wrong reasons for half the season.

I disagree re Weiss - I think you can just tell he has real football player quality about him - ok he made his mistakes etc but the things he can do are awsome and that will only grow in him with the right coaching and chances. Raw talent wise I think he is very high on the list.

Weiss doesn't even play for us anymore!

1.Jussi
2.Cahill
3.K.Davies
4.Muamba
5.Lee
6.Knight
7.Taylor
8.Steinsson
9.Gardner
10.Robinson

I refuse to put Davis, Holden, and Petrov in there until they have played a fair amount of games for us.

---

Top 10 as in Birmingham and Blackburn?

Top 8 I'd agree with. We only have a handful. But then they all have budgets that are at least 10 times ours- expect maybe Everton.

If we're going off in terms of ability;

1. Petrov
2. Cahill
3. Muamba
4. Jussi
5. Davies
6. Lee
-----------------------
7. Knight
8. Taylor
9. S.Davis
10. Holden

Top 6 all capable of being top 8/10 players.

Its true top scoring premiership midfield players aren't really premiership quality at all.

Not being able to run hasn't done Fat Frank any harm has it?

Agree with Pedersen; the squad lacks any real quality.

the reason for that is Megson brought in a lot of players who could "do a job" so it left us with very few stand outs.

but hey he did bring in Lee and M.Davies who seem to have a bit about them even if it is very early days.

Muamba and Holden also have the raw skills but Muamba has awful ability in terms of shooting and decision making.

His tackling and defensive positioning is superb!

Megson also brought Cahill in.

true its a shame the way we played was on a level with Rushden and Diamonds (apologies to them)

I still worry whether we have the ability to play pass and move football.
