We r the tree that makes the forest, without us the league is nothing, so we makesure nothing harm the forest.

....I don't feel it'll be tough for Coyle to hand pick our regular players this season, but, what could pose a tough task for him is who amongst our "below par" players to add up to make 25...

The likes of Ward and Obadeyi would have a free pass as they r not up to 21, but, what players are we going to be submitting in that list come August 31 ??

Elmander
Cahill
Petrov
Knight
Samuel
Jussi
Bodgan
K-Davies
S-Davis
Lee Yong
M-Davies
Muamba
S Brake
Steinson

....I think this would be my 14 most decent withou Alonso(below 21).
Now remind me of Shite players to add.

25-man squad for the Premiership? As in which players is he "taking to the Reebok" and which is he leaving at home?

Jussi
Bogdan

Steinsson
Ricketts
Cahill
Knight
A. O'Brien
Basham
Robinson
(Alonso)

Lee
Holden
Muamba
Davis
J. O'Brien
M. Davies
Cohen
Gardner
Taylor
Petrov

Blake
Elmander
K. Davies
Ward
(Nugent)

Likely signings in brackets, I feel that Ward and Alonso will be registered despite being under-age.

Under 21's don't count. So he only has to register 25 senior players.

He will name every player we have on the books to make it up to 25 I should imagine.

Ward etc won't count.

What if, hypothetically, a team has less than 25 players over the age of 21?

Well they name all the players they have. I'd have thought that was obvious. You don't have to name 25 thats just the maximum.

Under 21s aren't named in that squad they can play anyways.

One question. Jussi gets injuried. We recall Al Habsi, but does it mean we have to sign Ali on that list?

As City have apparantly found out, their squad is something like 32 and now they need to sell a few players to balance the books.

Wonder if they have any strikers they don't need....... Wink

I'd imagine Shittu, Riga, and Hunt will spend yet another season rotting in the reserves, wasting money that would be better spent on something else.

The 25 man thing, can some explain exactly how it works to me?

So you name up to 25 players as senior first team (all over the age of 21)?

And then what about the under 21s? Do they automatically register as reserves or are they still registered with first team but they just dont count as part of the 25?

************

oh, did I answer my own question?

************

Squad - (personally I can live without the crossed out players)

1. Jussi
13. Bogdan

2. Steinsson
15. Ricketts
5. Cahill
4. Knight
12. Alonso
3. Samuel
22. New Defender
A. O'Brien
Basham
Robinson
Shittu
Hunt

7. Lee
8. Holden
6. Muamba
21. Davis
20. M. Davies
18. Gardner
11. Petrov
24. New midfielder in place of Wilshere.
Taylor
J. O'Brien
Cohen

17. Blake
9. Elmander
14. K. Davies
16. Ward
10. New Striker
23. Obedeyi
25. Riga.

So that 21 players over 21 and 3 under 21. Includes 2 new defenders a new mid and a new attacker.

Bogdan is 22, you left out Hunt from the list and Riga too.  By my count we're at 26 players over 21 and that's without any new additions.

So we need to sell at least one player just to cut down enough not to be paying someone who is in limbo.

Modified - thanks.

But I have given Hunt, Robinson, Shittu, Obrien, Basham, Obrien, Taylor, Cohen the boot. We need to offload the dead wood or stick them in the reserves team.

Robinson is first-choice lectback, it's Samuel who will probably leave.  We have to keep at least one of AOB, Basham and Shittu because otherwise we'll have no centrebacks.  Joey is rated by the staff and is apparently being kept and Cohen was just given a new deal this summer.  Taylor doesn't seem to be going anywhere either.

As far as I'm aware only Samuel, Hunt, Shittu and Riga have been told they can leave.....and that's just from rumours.

You have to live in the real world.

You've given our best left back, our only cover at centre half and the player most capable of scoring goals 'the boot'?

If you wernt being serious, it'd be hilarious. Sadly, i fear you are deadly serious.

I don't like the real world. On FIFA 10 when a young DH1985 had taken charge of his beloved Trotters, he managed to get £10m for those aforementioned players. Good times!

Yeah i could live without the players you've crossed out as well, if we had anyone who was equally as good.

i could live without almost all the players in our squad.

unfortunately were stuck with them.

Sentiment aside i'd rather ditch Gardner than Taylor if your getting rid of a left sided player.

Someone has never played football manager!

I don't think Coyle will have too tough a time trimming our squad to 25, what with the couple of under 21's we have and the likes of Hunt, Shittu, Samuel, Riga, and Joey O'Brien who will either leave or get nowhere near the first team.  I think we'll be facing a situation of giving squad numbers just to make up the numbers, so long as we only sign Alonso plus one forward.

We could so easily pick up a few decent players from City's ranks. I think they have nearly 40 players!

Felipe Caicedo would be a good addition up top.

Someone who has played football manager Smiley

"easily" picking up City players involves getting the money together for the fee, matching their high wages and persuading them to come from their supposed CL-chasing side to Bolton.  I fear it would not be so easy.

Caicedo isn't on massive wages, he's only 21.

So who would you cross out then saying as thats what Coyle is going to have to do? Especially if we bring in a forward, a midfielder and a defender as is being reported.

And ps I would keep Gardner and give Taylor away free with a roll-over.

Caicedo isn't on massive wages, he's only 21.

He was the most expensive transfer in the history of Swiss football and City reportedly hugely increased his wages.......that puts him on pretty massive wages considering the cost of living in Switzerland.  Given the size of the transfer fee I can't imagine he's on less than 30k a week.

Caicedo has been loaned out twice since he scored against us on the last day of the 2008/2009 season. City might not be against him coming to an established Premiership team for a season long loan. We take half his wages perhaps at whatever they may be (20-30k p/w). The lad wouldn't even have to move house. Surely that would suit all the parties better than him pissing off to the continent for six months.
