My ipod probably is beyond help but I thought I would try you clowns for any help, I knocked over a glass of water on it about 4 or 5 months ago and even though it worked it stopped the button at the bottom from working and the wifi just stoppws working although it still played music and I could use it.
I havnt used it for about 2 months so the battery was dead and I go to try and charge and the screen just stays white and is completely unresponsive, is their any hope for my Ipod or is beyond repair?
It is not got insurance and the warranty has gone before all the usual suggestions start.

I had a similar problem. Put it in the microwave on full power for 30 seconds. Should sort the problem.

I aint going all the way to the trafford centre to be told something that I 95% know the answer too, I just cant figure out why when it worked before it has just stopped without anything else happening to it.

You've probably not dried it out properly and the water's got into it over time then.

Will the microwave thing work or is this like using soapy water on a laptop?

Won't do any harm if you think it's already fucked. Worth a go?

People put a mobile phone on a radiator if that gets water damage, 30 seconds seems excessive but I thought 10 seconds could sort the problem.

For future reference you should leave it on a radiator for a few days before trying to switch it back on. Worked for me on a mobile a little while back. And you'll never believe who gave me that advice.

Sounds fully fucked. Get insurance, give it a month, and hope you have another water accident...

sharps i used to work for o2 and water damage is a bitch, even though it may work for a while after the initial spill, the water damage can cause the circuts to corrode which takes a while to happen, thats why most people dont realise that it was the spill which had caused the phone/ipod ect to break
this sounds a bit weird, but the best thing to do is if you spill liquid on a phone/ipod is to put into a bowl of uncooked rice, this soaks up the water and reduces the chance of corrosion down the line......but id imagine its to late for yours now.

Not sure about the ipod touch but I have a 5g ipod, and if you drain the battery it becomes totally unresponsive as well, it will not sync or even charge when connected to PC. The solution for mine is to leave it connected for a while, which apparently gives it a low charge, then reboot to disc mode and charge from there.
Its likely a different process for the touch but try looking up 'charging dead battery' or 'boot to disc or utility mode' for ipod touch.

Is this iPod Touch the one that looks like the iPhone? I don't know about the iPod but if the iPhone has water damage, Apple void the warranty and won't replace it so I'm guessing the insurance won't either.
I find insurance pointless for things like this anyway. A new iPod will cost, say, £100-£150? A years insurance can cost around £80 and 99% of the time there won't be a problem. If it breaks, you might aswell just get a new one.

Put it in a football sock and then twirl it around over your head for 5 mins. Alternatively use a salad spinner.
PS On a lighter note: Michael Jackson invented a childrens version of that iPod. He named it ITouch Kids.

For what it is worth, you shouldn't take your phone in the bathroom with you when you are taking a bath/shower as the humidity can cause damage to the phone.

JayJay23. Burnden Aces won't let me quote you quoting Sharps but we can all see it. Stop quoting other people's (peoples'? Whaddya reckon?) grammatical errors. I know you see Natasha and Diana doing it often but rather than point out other poster's (posters' - see above) errors, just avoid making them yourself - since you know so much Dr. K Grammar?

Also the best thing to do if you ever spill pop on your electrical item is remove the battery and put it in a sink full of water. Its the sugar that does the damage see, the water washes the sugar away.
