Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes his side have a real chance of winning the Premier League this season.

Redknapp, who guided Spurs to their highest Premier League finish of fourth last term, is preparing for the club's maiden Champions League campaign. And the 63-year-old believes this season could see the White Hart Lane club lift the league championship trophy for the first time in 50 years.

I personally don't think it can be done, not at this stage. Granted they could, on their day, beat any of the three above them. However I just don't see them being consistent enough to be the best in the league over 38 games. Even if they won all six games against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd, you just know that Spurs will drop games elsewhere at places like here, Blackburn, maybe a shock at Blackpool or West Brom.

But it is refreshing seeing a manager from someone other than the old "top four" declaring his belief that his team can actually win the big one. And I suppose Liverpool have often finished 4th with a similar points tally to Spurs last year and yet are always considered to be in the running the next season.

What do you think? How good can Spurs be?

I think Harry has made a mistake here Chris. Ok so you think your team could potentially challenge for the title next season. Ok fair enough; but how about keeping it too yourself so that you don't add any unnecessary extra pressure on yourself as the manager or your players?

How good can Spurs be? Tough question. Always considered to be the bridesmaids of the Premier League. Getting CL football was a huge achievement for them and it was essential they pipped City to it last year. However, with the amount of money City are throwing at it, plus the fact that United and Chelsea will always be there or there abouts along with Arsenal and Liverpool looking to get the CL spot again, it would be one hell of an ask. I think they missed out on signing Joe Cole. While he would have been an expensive signing with excessive wages, he has won a lot with Chelsea and he would be that 'big name signing to take them to that next level.

Can they win the league? Like Chris, I doubt they have the consistency to come to places like, well, The reebok for one and grind out a win like they way Chelsea and Man utd do. They have the quality and I hope they're in the mix up for the Chams league palces again but I think the league is beyond them without making some BIG signings in the next four weeks.

Declaring that they are good enough to break into the top for is one thing, but he's off his chump if he thinks he can better Chelsea and Man U/City right now. Set himself up for a big fall there hopefully

There's nothing wrong with ambition though. If he believes his team can fight with the big boys and get to around Christmas still in contention, even if they fall away and end the year in 3rd or 4th, surely that's better than aiming to just equal what they managed last season and then maybe fall a bit short of that and end up 6th only just scraping a UEFA spot?

This will make it even sweeter when they get dumped out of the Champions League at the first stage and struggle for 6th in the Premier League.  I'll give him his due credit for getting them there but I can't stand the twitchy bastard.

If you saw the interview on TV, when he said it he had a half smile/smirk on his face.  He was WUMing.

I think if City can get their act together with the players they have and will be getting, I think the top four will be the two Manchesters and Chelsea and 4th being up for grabs between Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs.  However, if Liverpool don't being in quality, they'll fall away and become nothing bigger than Villa.

Chelsea need to blood younger players before they tumble...or have to spend a fortune to replace all their aging players.
