He's going on a free? fcúk off. He was the best back-up goalkeeper in the league, and will he even start there? Kirkland is No.1. Im pretty upset about this.

Where has any of it come from?

I wondered why he wasnt in the squad to face Charlotte last night, but signed for Wigan the next day?

I've looked about, can't find anything on it apart from one guy on Wigan Mad going Al Habsi is signing today on a 2 year deal.

Unless it is an inspired piece of ITK that the papers haven't bothered picking up on or if it's just blatant speculation I've no idea. I get the feeling it is true though.

Ali is not a great loss, but letting him go on a free is daft.  He was never going to displace Jussi and Bogdan is highly rated by the staff.  Also, there is still that thing about Myhill doing the rounds.

But the thing about Myhill is rumored at £2m so if we let Al Habsileave on a free then we have spent £2m on weakening our strongest position. It doesn't make any sense. If it was a fringe player who we just wanted off the wage books (like Hunt, Shittu etc) then, yeah, by all means let them leave on a free, but Al Habsi?

Very bizare!

Is there an actual source to this ridiculous story or is it just a rumour that some pie eater has been spouting?

I should think if he's going Ali is going because they think Bogdan is ready to be number 2 and thus releasing Ali will free up wages for elsewhere!

It's a fair asumption although I doubt Ali will be one of our highest earners and surely we could look to / beg / plead with other players lower on the pecking order to dispense with first.

Plus, if we need to rid ourselves of our second choice keeper to free up some wages, just how poor are we?

That story was two years ago and I think he signed a new four year deal afterwards.

No worries. The date is quite small. I only remember it because I remember thinking that Peter Harrison, his agent, was a grade a twat. I still do! Think he represented Jussi too and messed us around then. Suppose he is only doing his job but he's still a cock!

No idea in BN, but original line from Bolton was he wasnt in America because he couldnt get a VISA.

Possible, but I'd say the move is more than likely true.

**A jimbo exclusive***

He's signing on a 12 month loan.

Fact.

If that's true, then I'd be all for it. Kirkland is one of those players who, sadly, could be out for the season at any given moment and Al Habsi will hopefully have some playing time which he wouldn't get here due to Jussi.
