Hopefully when/if it's like Brazil v Spain we will see some attacking football from both teams.
Dreamworld Didle. When it gets to the knockout stages the teams will be even more scared to lose. It wouldn't surprise me if the majority of games go to penalties.

Well Natasha that's how it is unfortunately, football is a game people don't want to lose and won't take too many risks to get through until they absolutely have to. It's the way the game is played now, but if Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, etc, are good enough to say they are the best in the world then they will find a way past that kind of defence.
When we first came up we played a lot of 4-5-1 and it worked for a few months then people found us out and once that happened we had to come up with a new tactic. There's no doubt Spain were the better side today, but much like many of Bolton's victories in 01/02 Switzerland played their gameplan out brilliantly.
They were organised, kept them at bay, and then somehow got their goal. Scrappy, but they got it and then said to Spain "now let's see what you can do"... and the answer was not enough! I'm sure they'll still go through (Spain) but this was an interesting game to watch for me just for that battle.

What's all this Bufana Bufana crap the BBC commentator keeps coming out with? Are they not called South Africa anymore even though it says so on the screen?
I swore I wouldnt waste any more time on this rubbish so switching over to an episode of Two and a half men that I've seen at least five times. I'm sure it will be more entertaining.

I'd rather watch my own hand for half an hour than that drivel. Bafana Bafana though is their nickname, bit like the Three Lions for us, the cheating gets for Argentina and (if you are Sharps) the Nazi Bastards for Germany.

South Africa are terrible anyway, if it wasnt for hosting they would never have qualified.

Hopefully they can go out on a high and knock France out by beating them or holding them to a draw.

All of a sudden a game where the teams care because if they don't perform they are going (or in this case staying) home. I think this will be a much more entertaining set of games now, particularly France tomorrow because if Mexico somehow beat them then they are in real trouble to qualify.

At least the Nazi thing would work. You could say we're " tanking 'em " or Germany continuing their " aeriel bombardment ". That Bafana Bafana description is just another sop to this African culture thing. Can you imagine a foreign commentator referring to England as " Three Lions " at least 10 times in a match? I'll be glad when the frogs dump that lot out then they can stick those trumpets where the sun don't shine.

8 goals in the last 2 games, so far people saying it will get better in the next round [like myself] are being proven correct.

I hope you're right about the horns WS but since they are being heard in every game I don't think we'll see the back of them just because the hosts are (or will be) out. Apparently Bafana Bafana translates to simply "the boys". Quite apt really, they were made to look so last night.

For the first time tonight we saw a team who actually wanted to win.
Hats off to Mexico. I hope they go on to lift the WC.

And we saw a team who clearly didn't. We've had teams scared to lose but France looked scared to even be on the field. Dreadful and how you can leave a player like Henry on the bench is beyond me - but to be fair when he came on against Uruguay he did nothing.
