I think a draw was a fair result IMO, we had the better of the 2nd half and I thought after we scored they looked the better in the 1st. Can someone explain this to me aswell, Rob Green has made a few fcúk ups for west ham and they have finished 17th yet the bastard still manages to be our number 1 fucks up for west ham and fucks up for england, the guys consistant for sure. Rooney was non exsistant in terms of a goal threat and lampard only decided to show his face half way through the 2nd half. We will win the next 2 and go through, keep positive Lay off Green he is our best opportunity for 6 points next season.

Capello should grow a pair and put Joe Hart in goal for the rest of the tournament. Heskey is not a striker, play Crouch. Then again, what do I know? I'm not on 6 mil a year...

Keegan gotta disagree with Hart, James is top dog for #1 Heskey should head for the fuckn airport now,and Capello should be preparing his resignation letter, fcuking spick fanny.

Hart has looked the best English keeper this past season, and is a big part of why Birmingham did so well. Ability is more valuable than experience in my humble opinion.

Why are people saying we deserved to win last night? I didn't think we really looked close to scoring after Green's mistake. People here say we created good chances such as 2 for Heskey - you do realise Heskey cannot score don't you? He is great with link up play and works so hard but he is hopeless in terms of sticking the ball in the net. I actually thought the USA looked more dangerous on the attack than us. Why did Capello bring on SWP? He's been rubbish this last season. I can't believe he left Adam Johnson at home, he is a quality left sided player, SWP can't play there. Rob Green, oh my god, I think everyone here knows he makes a lot of mistakes and is nothing special yet Capello cannot see it and he is paid god knows how many millions a year. Joe Hart is our best keeper, yes he is young but so what? Lampard plays again and yet again does absolutely nothing. We had a discussion on here a week ago about Lampard and I had some muppets say he is brilliant, but the fact is he is crap for England and he's the most over rated footballer on the planet. We are rubbish.

We should have won because we supposedly have better players and a top drawer manager.
We didnt deserve to win because we gave away a sloppy goal, missed too many chances, our players on the night weren't good enough and our overpaid manager made selection mistakes.

well I kind of said if it ends a draw then it will be down to goals scored in the other games to win the group.
And by the looks of it (apart from the last 15 minutes of the game) the USA does have a real good chance of scoring more than us!
Decently tiumed substitutions, btw, by Capello and hopefully Green misses out the next game - there again, who out of all of us would not have had the nerves during the first game and possibility of having butter finger like green?

1st sentance - totally agree but that is only on paper and not on pitch otherwise we would have won the trophy a few times by now - instead of just the once! 2nd sentance - totally agree (and what was with Beckhams face after USA scored!)

Fabio doesn't happen to be megson with a mask on by any chance? because it was just like watching bolton for most of the game, long balls, unable to keep hold of the ball, can't pass a ball for toffee and piss poor when it came to putting the ball in the back of the net.
I have a feeling that we maybe playing germany in the last 16 if we manage to get through because im pretty sure USA will finish above us on that showing last night.

We will still finish first, you have got to remember that smaller nations are always fired up and raise there game against England. I cant see the yanks beating both Slovenia and Algeria and even if they do, I think we will score more against them than the americans will. We will win our group mark my words.

Win the group? I'd back Bolton and Hull to beat Algeria and Slovenia.
We would need 100% improvement on last night's effort to get past the next stage.

Agreed massive improvement is needed because as we we was better we looked nowhere near world cup winners but we do have the players and provided that foureyed italian wanker picks the right system and players we can still win it. I dont see why your even commenting you have stated before your not too fussed about England and dont like America which is why you want England to win.

Weren't you the one who was going to top himself if Heskey played? Well you're still here aren't you?
England couldn't have asked for an easier group. It should be no big deal to win or come second with all the resources we have, I'm just not sure we have the players to progress further. Hope I'm wrong as even though I'm not the biggest fan of the national team I'd much rather watch a game with us in it than Japan V Paraguay or whoever.

I resorted to self harming because he played alright. There are positives to take from the game along with facts which go in our favour. Green got found out which could only be a good thing that prevents him from costing us games where it really matters. Lots of teams have drawn there first game and be wrote off to go on and win the competition.

Green will play the rest of the WC, no doubt. Goalkeepers hardly ever get dropped.

The New York Times take on last nights match: We failed to beat a nation who don't seem to fully understand football. We'll still win the cup though.

Having had a day to calm down and get over 'that moment' I've managed to get a bit of perspective on the game now.
Granted, it's a shocker of a result. Whatever did or didn't happen in the game, we should not be doing anything other than beating a country that doesn't even particularly like football. I don't see the Lancashire Wolverines* getting a 'tie' against the New England Patriots in American Football anytime soon.
* - our nearest amateur American Football team
However, we do always start a tournament slowly. We are never sure of our strongest XI straight away because we play rubbish warm-up games and don't even care about how anybody performs in them. In 2004 we started with a loss and qualified, in 1996 we started with a draw and reached the last four, in 1990 we started with a draw and reached the last four, and even when we won it in 1966 we started with a draw.
England never win the group with a 100% record, it's just how it goes. And however annoying it was the way we got to drawing yesterday, we are still big favourites to qualify and win the group. Algeria and Slovenia are probably half as good as the USA were - and they were hardly anything to shout about.
So we can blame Green, Capello, Heskey, Terry Venables' singing voice, Margaret Thatcher as much as we want but... it's not the end of the world drawing one group game however annoying it was not beating the only people in the world who can't decipher the difference between England and Britain.
Chins up!
