Not a match report but a 'happening' that took place on the 22nd September, 1999 - the day that Toddy resigned!

Todd quits as Wanderers sell midfield ace to rivals

BOLTON Wanderers are looking for a new manager today after Colin Todd sensationally left the club.

Six weeks into his fifth season in charge of team affairs, the former England international resigned as a deal was being concluded to sell star midfielder, Per Frandsen, to Division One rivals Blackburn Rovers for £2.25 million.

Football: Evans in the wings as Todd leaves Bolton

COLIN TODD quit as Bolton Wanderers' manager yesterday, with Roy Evans ready to answer the call to return to football as his replacement.

Todd left just as the midfielder Per Frandsen was being sold to Bolton's neighbours Blackburn Rovers in a pounds 1.75m deal that made his patience snap after losing a number of his best players. The Danish international joins Alan Thompson, Nathan Blake and Arnar Gunnlaugsson on the exit road.

I don't actually remember this day but for some reason I remember Allardyce taking over.

Frandsen was my favourite player when I first went watching the Wanderers and he was always a big player for us, even during his second spell.

Was a shame Todd went, looking back, he made some great signings, it was just a shame we didn't get promoted because we'd have been in a good position to survive.
