Click 'Profile' which is under the main site banner and there you'll find a menu on the left hand side. On that, there'll be a sub heading called 'Modify Profile' and under there click 'Forum profile information' and from there you can upload a picture.

I don't understand why anyone would want a photo of themselves (or even some strangely and naively, their children) as their avatar on a forum. Isn't the point of avatar an alter ego? Does anyone really care what the other posters look like, or even what gender they are?

i dont have an alter ego, the one i already have is big enough thankyou very much, i do however draw the line at putting up pics of my son, i have some of him on facebook but as far as i know my privicy settings are set to friends only. i use facebook not only for general day to day banter (i think im adicted) but also to keep in touch with reletives in england, auz, new zeland and canada so it makes sense to put pics of my son on there. if they ever changed the settings so that they wernt private then i wouldnt hesitate to remove them.

i have always liked to see who im chatting with so i suppose thats why i dont mind having my own pic as my avatar, but i know others dont like to do that, and thats fine by me, its a matter of personal choice.

edit: why is this now in the announcements and feedback section?

I think that one of the other mods has moved the thread there so that others having a similar problem with their profile picture can read how it is done from your experience.

Hope you don't mind your thread being moved, I'll put it back if you like?
