I've always said it's club before country for me, but ever since England qualified I have been looking forward to the World Cup more than watching Bolton play, I just wanted Bolton's season over asap and it ending with us still in the Premiership, so I didn't have Bolton relegated in the back of my mind.
Since the season finished I have been in World Cup mode, watching the reports, friendlies, watching highlights of World Cup's gone by, listening to England anthems and stuff like looking at the venues at South Africa and what things they have built for the World Cup.
I really can't wait, I know we might not win, I know the excitement may turn into disappointment, but I have not felt so excited to watching football for a team I support for a long time, 4 weeks of football, non stop, not only England, the best players playing against each other, Brazil, Spain, Holland, Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Lee etc
I will soon put out my England flag, and I really can't wait, I just watched a small video of England training camp and their facility's in South Africa like their hotel and swimming pools, their so lucky. June 11th can't come soon enough!
Then when it finishes role on the transfer window and Bolton's pre season. Nothing beats football!

I've got Ghana in the work sweepstake.... I might just support them instead of England they've probably got a better goalkeeper with Richard Kingson in nets.

The World Cup bug is getting to me also. I know in the back of my mind that there's a slim chance of England winning the trophy but I guess it's like going into a relationship - you know that chances are it will end badly unless she is actually the one you marry and even then it's hardly a cert, but knowing that doesn't stop you enjoying it along the way.
People always say leading upto the competition they aren't arsed, they "don't even care if we win" etc, but when it's as hot as it was this past weekend and the England games come around it takes a really miserable sod who can resist getting into the spirit. Especially considering the competition only comes around every four years.

Plus they got a better midfielder in Michael Essien who IMO is one of the best players in the premier league, whether he is as good now after his injury will have to be seen.

That'll be me then. I've tried getting into the spirit but I haven't watched an England game since the last WC (I can never be arsed with qualfiiers and we obviously missed out on Euro 2008). That's a long streak to reverse. I'll probably watch the games, I certainly have plans to watch the one on the 23rd (see I don't even know who's in our group), but I doubt that excitement is the word I'd use. I'm only going out as it's my mate's birthday! Far more 'excited' about pre-season and watching Bolton at a League 2 ground or two!

I'm missing Bolton already but as have the players out on international duty, they're thinking about England first and so am I. I can't stand half the players in the squad but it just all gets put on hold when something like this comes along.
COME ON ENGLAND!

I was starting to get excited then last night's game actually led to me to choosing revision over watching more than half an hour of it.
Once the time of first game comes, ill probably be excited again but last night just reminded me of how poor England still are and just how boring they are to watch.

It wasn't great, but 2nd half got a lot better, and quite a few players were missing.

It's a warm-up, it's never going to be great and even if it was there would be some who complained. "They should save it for the real thing" etc. I'm similar dh in that I've not really got going over an England game since Portugal in 2006 but that won't be uncommon. The qualifiers are in the midst of a busy domestic campaign and everyone has more pressing issues with their clubs but when it comes to the proper competitions it is that and nothing else.

for the first time ever im getting excited about the world cup, even though i know my 2 sweepstake teams are dung its still giving me that little bit of interest!
i can see me saying lets go to the pub to watch the match quite a lot during this world cup, although im not sure if its just an excuse to pour as much guinness down my throat as i can, eitherway BA is sort of converting me to liking football.

Sorry I must have misssed something here I will probably get excited about the World Cup once the first round kicks in, I have got £20 on the Ivory Coast to win, so I will probably be more motivated than usual.

Drogba, Kalou, The Toure brothers and Sven as manager, its not the worst team in the world.

I would have put a crafty few quid on them if they weren't in this year's group of death.

I put money on Ivory in the African Cup of Nations, they didn't very well and no money is going on them from me in the World Cup, they have a tough group. Brazil, Portugal and North Korea. They can get 2nd place ahead of Portugal because they are hardly playing well under Queiroz. But no African side will win the World Cup anytime soon IMO. Don't waste your money. Put it on a side like New Zealand or North Korea instead
