Ok under Megson thats all we expected, but with Coyles new world is just staying up a given or do we expect more.
Pretty football aside is Coyle the next big Sam or a kickback to little Sam,to me it harks me back to when Moyes took over at Everton, his first season was a disaster avoiding relegation on goal difference. So can Owen go on and emulate him or will we be perrenial strugglers, only time will tell, but most of us will be looking at improvement on 14th place next season.

I can only realistically see us making about 9th. Apart from the extra cash finishing a higher 5 places, what's the difference? There's no reward at the end. We're never going to get in Europe again unless we get in via a cup competition, so in terms of the league, 14th will have to do again and let's hope for a good cup run.

I cant see us improving lots, I hope we have no relegation fears and challenge for that 10th spot along with Fulham, Sunderland, Birmingham, and Stoke.

That's last season though isn't it? I suppose chalanging for the 10th spot is the next step forward for the club, under Megson, we had no chance in hell of doing that, under Coyle, I think it's more than possible.

I have witnessed a few seasons of ''just surviving'' under that ginger prick so no for the amount of a season ticket i don't just want surviving and if we are going to ''just survive'' for the next few seasons under OC and struggle to stay up then i would rather us go down and have some success in getting promoted!

I know it sounds like im being depressing but the last 2 seasons have been fcuking aweful.

It depends how we go about it. Surviving next season is a much better achievement than surviving this season was. At this time last year we all knew that the three that came up we had two that should be below us, and instead of Birmingham it was Hull making the third side. I didn't think Portsmouth would be quite so bad but their off-the-field problems meant that we couldn't really go down unless we were truly dreadful - which we weren't by the end.

But while I see the playoff final winners going straight back down, I can't call it for the other two places. Newcastle could well do what Birmingham did this year as teams will still see a point at St. James' as a good result despite their relegation two years ago. West Brom and Wolves we just don't know how they will be. Then there's Wigan, West Ham could have a resurgent year...

It's a lot more unpredictable for 10/11 and we need to be at our best from the off or we could be in trouble by Christmas - again. If we give it our all, have a few results to be proud of (i.e. a derby win or beat a top four side or two) then 14th again won't be too bad in my eyes. But the fans will turn again on the manager in the same way if we start poorly so the situation that happened in Moyes' first year at Goodison will never be replicated again here - not unless we went down.
