Kevin Davies is a hugely respected player at the club even by those who doubt whether he should be a first team regular. He has been fantastic for us over the years, he tries so hard, he has been so important to us and is a fantastic person around the dressing room.
He does have qualities in his game, his work ethic is fantastic, he leads by example, he is very strong physically, capable of great flick ons, very good in the air. But on the other hand he doesn't score enough goals for a centre forward. He isn't blessed with pace, his movement is poor and his finishing is poor too. If we do play with one up front he just doesn't look a goal threat and I think one reason we have failed to score in so many games is because we play with Davies up front.
I just don't see how we can improve much more with Davies in the team, unless of course we were to sign a prolific goalscorer to partner him. I think Owen Coyle's style of management requires very different sort of strikers than Kevin Davies. I think for a passing team playing good football we need mobile players who have pace and can finish off chances.
So if a bid was to come in which was fair, would you keep him or cash in on him?

Time to move on from Davies but unfortunately it's not going to happen. Edit: Just reading the official site... he's won the effing Junior Whites player of the year now! http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/JuniorWhites/0,,1004~2044120,00.htmlI know they're only kids, but how fcuking deluded are some people?!

Stay, not going into why as I've done it 99 times and I refuse to make it 100.

I love the guy. But he has not been anything special this season, and Coyle has made it clear that he is most likely going to be in the starting line-up next season. I think he would flourish with a pacey finisher next to him. Stay.

Stay certainly. Maybe the kids and the BWSA saw something we didn't but let's face it none really deserved a player of the year award unless it was a shared shite one.

If a good offer came in for him then i would sell him but how much would we actually get at a maximum for him at his age? It would just be easier to keep him but not to start him next year, an impact sub if we are struggling in the last 15mins........(he could be on a lot in that case )

Speaking of which, I wish that announcer at the Reebok would stop calling him that. It's cringeworthy, especially as increasingly more and more supporters are seeing sense and are realising he shouldn't be in the team.

Its something we chant for him hence why he does it, he isnt going to tell it like it is and refer to him as the increasingly ineffective Kevin Davies is he?

So what if it's a chant, he doesn't say "Number 11, Rica Rica Ricardo Gardner" does he? Although that would be pretty amazing if he did...

I know I wouldn't agree with it but I'd find it hilariously ironic if Davies scored and the announcer said "Bolton Wanderers goalscorer, number 14, increasingly ineffective Kevin Davies!"

It would get more of a cheer from me than the actual goal!

Just a few fachts.
Kevin Davies is our most creative player(nearly twice as creative as Lee Chung Yong)
He is the 5th most creative player in the premier league in terms of chances created in a match
1 Frank Lampard Chelsea 99 2 Francesc Fabregas Arsenal 82 3 Luis Antonio Valencia Manchester United 82 4 Florent Malouda Chelsea 74 5 Kevin Davies Bolton Wanderers 72 6 Steven Gerrard Liverpool 71 7 Charles N'Zogbia Wigan Athletic 71 8 Leighton Baines Everton 66 9 Ashley Young Aston Villa 59 10 Matthew Etherington Stoke City 58
He is the 2nd most fouled player only behind Steven Pieenar. With him being a striker logic dictates many resulting freekicks are in goalscoring opportunities=more chances created.
He is the joint 10th player with most assists in the Premier League. On a par with the likes of Malouda, Gerrard, Tevez, Valencia and Young.
"I am not talking about my impression. I AM TALKING ABOUT FACHTS."

Kevin Davies creates opportunities. Chung Yong is creative. There is a difference. Apples and Oranges.

Interesting stats those Jimbo, thanks for those. Didnt I read a few weeks ago that he had directly created about 12 of our goals? I like CYL but he's probably been directly responsible for creating about 5 goals.
