It seems what most of us thought and that Shittu, O'brein, Hunt and McCann are all on their way....even though coyle does say something about when McCann is back from injury he may offer him a new deal.

I thougt Coyle wanted Bolton to play some good attacking football like when he played. But i cant see McCann being a part of that. He is a horrible passer, and has no attacking skils.

Actually fair play to Owen, as he is giving McCann a trial after he returns back from injury, as Owen hasn't had a proper chance to survey McCann in training properly, like the others!
 - its not a promise of a new contract!!!

Looks like he wants to bring in a few players then! The only problem is that these players are on quite alot of money... I can see O'Brien/Shittu going to Newcastle/West brom though.

Hmmm .... training.
I was thinking of that earlier today. Given the pathetic performances of most players in some games and some players in most games, what the h*ll different do they do in training to impress enough to get a 1st team place ?

Read it on Sky Sports and talk about pissing on my bonfire.

Starts off by saying 'Gavin McCann will not be offered a new contract' to 'Gavin McCann will be given the chance to prove himself'. Just get rid Coyle, he's a waste of space!

Also, a chance to 'prove' himself, there are only two games left, and isn't he still out injured?!

After a poor start, I'm starting to like you. Not in that way obviously...

I think everyone is in agreement he's pretty poor but there are a lot of Liberal Democrats on here that seem to think we should give him a nice wave goodbye and buy him some leaving presents when really some of his performances were embarrassing and made me ashamed to be a supporter of BWFC.

To be fair to McCann, you could say the above to the majority of the players at some point in the season.

Anyway, I think that Coyle is offering him more of a trial.  A month (max) is mentioned but I seriously doubt this is going to win him a contract.  It's more likely to be "I just want to justify my decision" trial.

Coyle/Bolton News (not sure which) has also said that we may have to sell Cahill to fund purchases.  Elmander's also being tipped by the BEN to be sold on.

I think there will be more to go that haven't been named yet; the likes of Vaz Te, Samuel and/or Robinson, Gardner, possibly Taylor?

It will be intresting to see who he brings in, if he is planning to let so many players leave, we need to replace them with better players and not just players coyle likes who are similar level of players we have at the minute.

In the past two or three seasons there's only been one player who has embarrassed himself- Johann Numpty Swede.

McCann does at least leave us with some great memories from the Riverside and Belgrade.

To be honest as far as McCann goes I never rated him but I never expected to. He was always meant to be a squad player, nothing more in my eyes. He also scored that one-yard wonder-strike at Boro which is still our most important goal in the post Allardyce era, and if he goes he goes with my best wishes - as long as he goes now. Compare him to Joan Elmandy and you see a much bigger difference in initial expectation, but absolutely none in production so far. Get them both out this summer.

I think if we are to improve and move forward we need to get rid of a lot of players. I would look to sell or let go of the following: Taylor, Robinson, Joey O'Brien, Andy O'Brien, Elmander, McCann, Vaz Te, Cohen, Shittu and Holden. Just look at these players and you know that they can do nothing good for us. Sell whoever we can and get the lot of the wage bill. If we are to improve and move forward we need to get shot of these players.

Poor Holden. Two games. A MOTM performance and a very good performance and he isn't good enough now.

He's one of those players that some Bolton fans think is rubbish because he's not in the team, completely oblivious to the fact that the reason he's not playing is because he's injured!

Has Holden signed a new contract? There was an option for an extra year I think, or am I dreaming?

No you're not dreaming it - don't know what happened though - guess everyone was waiting to see what league we were playing in next season?

Holden signed the one-year extension already.  That was reported in the Bolton News a while back.

Also, Coyle mentioned in the paper today about using Holden next season.

We probably don't, the ginger one spent quite alot last summer and now i think their is little left but to sell players to raise funds.

Of course Coyle won't stand in his way...he knows he's bobbins.

With the money we'll get for Cahill we can buy someone better and have change to buy a forward.

Everyone wins.

May as well sell Cahill now for 15M, while he has a long contract.

A year from now he won't be worth as much as his contract length will be shorter; or worse, he could have a poor season and/or get injured.

Natasha said we can get 2 good players; I'd extend that and say we could get 3 or 4 with that money.
