This happened..

Can you believe that was 7 years ago, such an important goal, not only in that season, but in our history. We could have gone down that season, we sure did go on to do such wonderful things.

I will always remember the greatness of Jay Jay Okocha

Fantastic, and will always be one of the best memories I've got. The year we went up head-to-head against the media darlings, battled all the way, and finally exorcised the demons from Everton in 1998. The rest was obviously important but this goal will always be the dagger that slayed them that year. As the commentator says, special.

One of the great days as a Bolton fan.JJ in 2003 was the finest player I have ever seen wear a Bolton shirt.I'd even put him above Anelka.
When you see Bolton turning out a central midfield of Cohen and Muamba it shows how far standards have slipped.

Muamaba has been one of our most consistant performers all season, I would hate to be without him,

One of the greatest moments in our recent history. It created a platform for us to go on to bigger and better things. No European trips, not top 8 finishes, no superstars like Anelka etc had we gone down.

As an aside though, I always rated Djorkaeff higher than Okocha. Both quality players but Djorkaeff just had something else for me. Great goal by Jay Jay though!

Great day, great goal. I remember sitting there thinking " Go on, hit it " Agree about the current midfield comments, not fit to clean his boots.

Chers didle.

Muamba has been consistently useless apart from a couple of games when he did manage to find a white shirt.

I have watched enough to tell which player has had a good or poor season.

You've never been to a match in your lifetime. Seriously how can you accurately judge someone's performance?

Anyway, back onto the topic which should be about one of the greatest players ever to pull on a Bolton shirt. I remember that moment well, great weather, a full stadium and an amazing goal. I still have an 'Okocha 10' keyring on my car keys, to remind me of THAT moment and always thank him for single handedly keeping us up in the Premier League that season.

Thanks for the memories Okocha, you were a joy to watch

I hope we can see him at this club again. Coach maybe? He could work with Lee and Weiss Cheesy

Amazing how a couple of good goals can cloud over the fact a player was pretty average.

If only Gerald Cid had scored a few crackers, he'd be a legend!

There was nothing average about Jay-Jay Okocha on a football pitch except maybe his height.

You're right, he was often below average.

Too many row Z passes, not enough goals, and for all his flicks and tricks he didn't actually create that many goals.

He is up there with Diouf as most overated player of all time.

You are really stooping low, this is laughable.

It's not laughable, it's truth.

Diouf and Okocha were both big name players and for that reason they were always given the benefit of the doubt by the star-struck Bolton fans. Both enjoyed a lot of the ball, both created very little.

I think we all know that Okocha wasn't the most consistent player to play for us, however when you pull out some performances like he did, and I mean some of the best I've seen from any player ever, how do expect him to match that every week?!

I can think of two or three games where he was dominant. The rest of the time he was poor.

Yes, he scored a few good (and important) goals but take those away and you were left with a pretty average player.

He was thinking of a comeback in Nigeria last October - can't find out if he ever did though.

Take away Messi's goals and tricks and you're also left with a pretty average player.
