on another note, weiss looked good when he got a decent 20 mins, he was the threat that created both goals. he looked fast and determined on the ball. a real decent force driving forward.
weiss would start next match for me. and i would try to get him next season too. he wont sign though if he doesnt at least get the next few games as starts.

can i counter that with this... if we picked a better team to start with we would play better all round and score the goals anyway through other players. you cant say that if we had started our other players instead of taylor then we would have never scored any goals. We might have scored more and won more games. ---------
Such as? Surely you aren't going to blame our top scorer for us not winning more games?
Davies, Elmander, Klasnic are all strikers. Riga and Vaz Te have not been good enough to even make the bench for the last 2 and 4 managers respectivley. Seems to suggest that our strikers aren't up to putting the ball in the net(apart from Klasnic)
Coyle has dropped Taylor for a better player- Wilshere- but in how many games have we looked like scoring in? Not that many judging by the constant 0's next to Bolton's name.
Goalscorers win games. Not flippy flappy fancy dan football(as Megson might have said).
You can have 10 great outfield players but if none of them are clincal enough to put the ball in the back of the net we will lose/draw(at best)
Taylor is an average player, but he scores goals.

I still dont rate Taylor, he has no pace and very rare does he take a player on, doesn't find space, ok he takes a mean free kick buts thats all there is to his game, a luxury we can ill afford.

I'll be there.
I had a ticket but I'm stuck in the States so I hope the fuckers lose!
If we win then you can stay there.
It's an omen.
I'd forgot about that. God gets Manny back for blasphemy

Did anyone else think Faye missed on purpose? He leant back very much and got right underneath it. I think he has a soft spot for us.

I had that idea as well... he will remember that we brought him here and he has no real reason to want to see us go down. Cheers, Faye!

Was it Faye that missed that penalty away at Pompey?
He couldn't wait to take it, rushed it and spooned it over the bar. Yea, maybe it was him.

Once again Gareth you miss the point. No one is saying Taylor is any good, but a team so poor in front of goal can't afford to leave out a goalscorer even if he gives very little on the pitch. I'm glad I could clear that up for you.

Sad but true. Taylor is a bit like Tim Cahill where they both know where the back of the net is but they tend to go missing in matches. The fact is Taylor is our leading goalscorer even though he has been out of the side most of the time since January and yet he is still our best attacking threat. So for me he has to start.

Mantasha, read this... look at it like this... the inclusion of poor players is invariably, no, directly linked to us playing poorly. Playing poorly, on the whole, results in us conceeding goals and thus losing games. Occassionally one of the poor players will pop up with a goal or a decent tackle. That does not justify their inclusion in the team in my opinion. Why? Because, generally, choosing not very good players is the reason we lose so many games. Its not necessarily that Taylor will give the ball away in his own box resulting in a goal for the opposition, but the repeated and ongoing mistakes that litter his game. His poor passing, getting caught in posession, poor control, wasteful 45 yard shots, failure to beat a man, failure to lift a free kick or corner over the first man (except the odd one) - all this wastage breaks down what could otherwise be promising attacking positions for us, as a result we fail to score, but even worse, each time it gives posession to the other team who are then free to attack us. They get posession more easily than they otherwise would and therfore get more opportunities to attack us. So, despite the odd goal, picking certain players is not good for the way we play or results overall. To put it simply, what Taylor gives us in terms of goals he takes away double from us in terms of everything else. His being in the side costs us more games than he wins us.

I couldnt agree more Sharps. Some posters peddle the same rubbish on multi forums just hoping to get someone to agree with them. Sir Nut was one, this Jay Jay bloke is turning into another.

But Taylor hasn't been in the team of late. he's only started the las two games and we've hardly been playing well as it is, especially with regards to scoring goals. if we were playing well and scoring tons of goals, then your agrument would carry more weight but I struggle to see how we can leave our top scorer out. We did leave him out, and we failed to score in over half the games. I didn't notice a marked improvement in our play, performance or results recently to warrant his exclusion, especially how we can accomodate Wilshere in the same team too.
