Seems though we have more people deciding to make people's lives more difficult, strikes are planned between 6am till 10am and 6pm till 10pm between Tuesday and Friday of next week.   If an agreement can be reached then no strike will happen but if it does will cause major delays and probably cancellations next week.

Check the national rail website and Transpenine Express websites for further updates.

Brilliant. Looks like I'll have to pay £40 for a taxi to the airport instead of a £3 train!

It would be fannying about but you can get a bus to Manchester and the 43 or 105 from piccadilly to the airport. Bus takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour to get to the airport.

Going at daft o'clock though so looks like I may have to call in a favour from someone who always begs for a lift.

Stand at the side of the road and hitch a ride, you may have to trade in your dignity for a free lift but archie advises me it dosnt feel so bad once you get started.

Last time I had to go to the airport there was some drunkard walking down the M60 in the middle of the night. I might give that a try.

That's me getting in late everyday then.

I thought it was just 'that' London that was affected?

My dad works for Northern Rail and he's not going on strike.... isn't it National Rail the people that maintain the tracks that are striking and not the actual train companies?

It is Network rail which is the problem which is what makes it 10 times worse, my dad told me about it because he works in the signal box at bromley cross.  He isnt going on strike but certain people in certain positions are, I think they object to laying some people off in the city centre and have 1 person in charge of all the manchester stations rather than one for each.

Network Rail that's the one. Just spoke to my dad it is them, it's not actually the train staff on strike but the track workers, which means the drivers and conductors can't go into work.
