I was thinking after the Pompey game, we need pace up front, and someone tricky, and can score goals. Well Portsmouth had two of those that ripped our defence apart yesterday, Dindane and Piquionne. They both have a decent goal-scoring record in a piss-poor team, and have all the qualitys we need up front, I cant imagine that they wouldn't cost much because of them being far behind in the pecking order at Lyon and Lens. Maybe 2-3m for either one of them? Maybe a loan move?

A strike force of:
Davies
Elmander (if we dont get any offers)
Klasnic (hoping to god Coyle dont let him leave, stupid mistake imo.)
Fletcher/Nugent
Piquonne/Dindane.

Would look very rosey indeed... Thoughts?

They didnt even rip us apart though we just gifted them 2 stupid goals so I wouldnt use our poor defending to justify there ability and the first goal was a mishit which Jussi should have saved if he hadnt of tried to read where the shot could go.

Im not sure which striker but i know either dindane or piquionne are going to be joining blackburn for 4million in the summer, i think its dindane.

But as you say sharps we let them have the 2 goals pretty much so they didnt rip us apart.

That would be my idea of a nightmare. While we're at it, why don't we put in a bid for Jozy Altidore and get a relegated striker's combination at BWFC?!

Who would you suggest we sign then, we all know we are short on money, and that might be the best we can get.

Sorry, I've been a bit hypocritical there, I'm the first one to have a go at people that criticise other posters and don't put a solution there myself.

I personally think we should go hunting in the lower leagues for strikers that have been banging them in. In recent years, we've missed out big time on not snapping up quality finishers from lower leagues, players like Darren Bent and Dean Ashton. We should have gone for Beckford last season but his FA cup heroics have pushed his price up way too much.

I reckon we should go for Obafemi Martins on loan for a season. I mean, he went to Newcastle when they were shite, albeit on big wages, but he's sat on the bench all the time at Wolfsburg. Isn't really prolific but he's one of the most rapid strikers I've seen and he's exactly the type of player we need.

Beckfords contract is up as far as I am aware in the summer so he wouldnt cost a penny although wether or not he could make the grade would be a concern aswell as the fact he is supposed to be a complete prick.

If you think we could be in a queue of about 30 clubs for Martins then your in dream world.

I think Fletcher is a good option upfront. Quick, a good finisher and has a good eye for goal. He's done well at Burnley in his first season and he is still relatively young at 24. Not a bad price either at a reported £3m. Can't see us doing much better for that. In two minds regarding Klasnic. He is by far and away our biggest goal threat and goal poachers don't often come cheap. However, it is well documented that he cannot complete 90 minutes and I'm not sure whether Coyle rates him or whether Klasnic rates Bolton. However, if he wants to stay and the price is realistic then I'd be happy to sign him on a permanent basis, provided we bring in someone like Fletcher too.

Definately don't want Nugent though as he is Championship class at best. Beckford would be a good option. As Sharps said, he's out of contract in the summer and surely ourselves, Wigan, Blackburn etc are the types of club that should be going for him. It's a big step up for him though and he's hardly a young player at 27 but, for free, he'd be a good option as he'd provided a different option, competiton for places and certainly has the pace we have been craving.

As for Piquonne/Dindane, I agree with Sharps that it was our woeful defeinding that gifted them the goals opposed to their own ability. I'm not wholly convinced by either of them although tthe introduction of Piquonne did seem to  make them more of an attacking threat. I think there are better options e.g. Fletcher

linked with yobo from everton today. Would be a quality addition i reckon especially if we sell cahill for 15+ yobo won't be near that figure and has plenty of experience. Maybe seen his best days but still has something to offer.

Hasn't Fletcher only bagged 8 goals at burnley this season? Not that great is he...

I think he's pretty poor to be honest...

8 goals in a Burnley side is pretty impressive.

More than Davies, Klas or Elmander have managed.

No reason he couldn't get 10-15 with us. 4M for a 10+ goal a season striker represents pretty good business.

No, they might want to buy him Sad

Infact, how about we send them Jussi if they'll pay us 1M or something for a couple of games.

He's got all the attributes we need at a price we can afford. 8 goals in a shíte team is a good return and he culd easily get double figures for a midtable team which is what we are striving to be. Any suggestions who we should go for instead then? I assume you're looking at 20 goal a season strikers on realistic wages at a price we can afford? It'll be an endless list.....

I wouldn't mind Fletcher being here but Davies has 8 and Klasnic has 7. Would he really be that much better than what we already have?

Who did he sign at Burnley?

Got a feeling he has more interest in homegrown players.

But you do get much better value for money for foreign players

If we are going all competition then Fletcher has 12.

Well, he'd be better than Elmander for a start. He can complete 90 minutes which is a plus too. He's only 24 which is nearly ten years younger than Davies. He has pace which I think we have all agreed is essential. Coyle knows him from Burnley so it is a realistic target. As Jimbo said, his record including cups is impressive and his Premiership record is good when you consider the team he is in and the fact that it was his first season in England.

He has room for improvement but he as all the attributes to be a good player for us. I'd fancy him to hit double figures next season anyway.

It's not like we have the money, wage structure or name to sign 20 goal a season strikers so we have to take a gamble on players who look like they have the potential to do well for us. I personally think that Fletcher has that potential and he is at a price we can afford. Plus, he is only on 15k p/w at Burnley so his wages and transfer fee are cheap too. Always a plus!

Get rid of O'brien and Shittu to raise money then yes, if not, then we need to improve other area's first.

What? After some shocking, and I mean absolutely shocking defensive displays from our team this year, it's clear that our priority is to get some more defenders in and ship out the shíte we currently have.

Yobo would be a good signing. Get rid of O'Brien and Shittu and with the freed up wages, give to Yobo. I would be fairly content with a Cahill-Yobo partnership and Zat Knight on the bench. Just need some full-backs now...

This caught my eye this morning:

http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2010/04/26/1895660/paris-st-germain-interested-in-a-2m-splurge-to-sign-herita

I know he was hurt for most of this season, but he was quality during the 08-09 season. Robinson is a squad player at best, and if JLS is leaving and we could pay his wages, 2m isn't a bad price for a potential starting left back with pace and skill. Not sure if we could compete with PSG but worth a look I'd say.

I'd take Ilunga. Although I imagine if he is looking for a move from WHU to PSG he's for leaving England.
