Because Sharps predicts every combination of the possible scores for the game and not just a single score prediction?

Nope, because he betted what the score would be before the match starts which obviously has to be 0-0!  Grin

Very good Jammy!

Here are two more riddles - the first is a well known one (but some may not have heard it before) -

While on my way to St. Ives
I saw a man with 7 wives
Each wife had 7 sacks
Each sack had 7 cats
Each cat had 7 kittens
Kitten, cats, sacks, wives
How many were going to St. Ives?

and the second is -

What has no beginning, end, or middle?

Time? Lol

It possibly could be but I'm looking for a much more simpler answer - an everyday object sort of thing.

I'll give you that one Ghosty - the answer I really wanted was a donut - but a circle is close enough!

Which is the word in English that has nine letters, and remains a word at each step even when you remove one letter from it, right up to a single letter remaining. List each letter as you remove them, along with the resulting word at each step.

Honestly, I was hoping it would take someone longer than that to work it out . Smiley

Jamster - there are actually about two dozen solutions to that one, but Startling is the only non-plural (that I know of).  I'm afraid I already knew the answer so I didn't really work it out (not this time anyway)....sorry.

A woman shoots her husband.
Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes.
Finally, she hangs him.
But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together.
How can this be?
