I've done a few England away matches but really, they've just been for the laugh. To be honest, I am finding it more and more difficult to motivate myself to give a shiny shite what any of those overpaid prima donnas do.

If we had a player in the squad I might get interested but too many cnuts in the England team. Might support USA or that Korean team Chungy's in.

I always get up for World Cups, even though we've very little chance of winning it and I hate 3 or 4 of the players.

Think this is the worst England team going into the WC for a while, and when Spain have someone like Fabregas who is miles better than any of our midfielders yet he can't even get in the starting line up for Spain it shows how far we are off.

Thing is, lots of other clubs are in poor form. Argentina are nowt special at the moment, nor are Germany or France who are managed by someone who makes Sammy Lee look like a competant manager.

I agree. Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup were the best chance we had of winning something in recent memory and we blew it both times.

I'm not too bothered about the WC at the moment but when the season is over, I'll be waiting for it to all begin!

That's how a lot see it I think. It's hard to get in the World Cup frame of mind when it's cold, dark, and more importantly when we are embroiled in a bitter battle to survive in the Premiership. But I got up for the Euros in 96 after we went down, the World Cup in 98 after we went down, and no doubt will be up for it this summer just as much.

I do hate International friendlies, I'd prefer to have some sort of competitive warm-up like that Le Tournoi we had once or maybe bring back the home internationals but it's back to that club v country row and in Britain the club wins every time. As for our chances usually we all think we'll do well and end up doing poor, maybe if we expect a poor do we'll come home with the cup Cheesy

Bolton aren't going to win any competition they enter this year, are you bothered about them?

I liked getting wrapped up in the atmosphere of the world cup, but couldn't really care less about the England team TBH.

IMO most people who jump up and down about England do so for some kind of political agenda or are the halfwits who support the top four or, conversely, a team in the lower leagues.

I just see the players that wind me up week in week out and can't really find myself getting excited about anything other than the fact they are representing us.

I used to get up for the the big competitions but after McClarens reign as manager and getting knocked out of the last euros i lost alot of interest with the team.

Im to concerned with boltons current form at the moment to think about england.

Besides i think the team we have is very over rated.

I can't wait.

If Capello can get his best 11 out we have the best chance of winning the thing in my lifetime of 30 years.

If Rooney and Gerrard play as they can no one will beat us. Brazil are hugely overated, Argentina don't have the players they used to, Germany are struggling, France are rebuilding....only Spain pose a threat but England can beat anyone on their day.

In my opinion, Gerrard has never played to his best in an England shirt. There's no doubt he's a good player, he's proved that for Liverpool over the years, but when he comes up against top opposition at international level he is made to look rather ordinary most of the time.

England imo go into the World Cup 3rd faves,

Behind 1st Spain and 2nd Brazil

Spain are so good though

Xavi and Iniesta will usually always dominate a match, they are the best 2 passers in the world, then you also have Fabregas and Alonso, Villa and Torres and the width with Silva, and also players like Senna, and a very good back line plus probably many people's no.1 keeper in the world Casillas

Spain and Barcelona play the beautiful game to perfection at times

It'll also be pissing down, cold and the pitches will be shite. The Spaniards won't fancy it.

Crouch and Heskey upfront. We'll win with ease.

We wont win without Rooney.

He needs to be fully fit for the WC, hope the typical curse doesn't happen again.

We have so much quality, Joe Cole Walcott/Lennon, Defoe, Gerrard and Lampard.

We have 2 smashing full backs, but both are injured currently, and two great cb's.

It's going to be fantastic!

I think opinions always go the same way with a World Cup. At the time when club football is still going on England isn't even slightly in our minds. We don't care. But as soon as it's over, the sun comes and the squad is announced we all start talking about it, and believe we can win it no matter who is in the squad. Optimism gets higher and higher until ultimately it all comes crashing down in the knockouts, and we all remember "we didn't care about the national team anyway".

I personally do care, very much so. I'm English and want to see my country known as the best in the world. But I won't be even thinking about them until Birmingham have been to the Reebok in May.

Well said Chris!

Apart from, for me - I don't care until either:-

a)  I get back from holls - fly out on 14th may for 2 weeks (making sure it was inbetween end of season and before the World Cup); or

b) the start of the actual event itself (saying that I have already booked certain days off from work for the event!!!)

We really don't have so much quality though and certainly not those players mentioned. Walcott - all pace, no end product - overrated by far; Joe Cole was good but can't string a run of games together now sadly; Gerrard and Lampard are both good for their respective clubs but don't reproduce that club form at international level like, say, Iniesta or Xavi do for Spain or Zidane did for France. Lennon is injured and may not go, though I agree he is a quality player but again unproven at international level. Defoe is the same.

Having good full backs is always nice but it doesn't win you a wrold cup? Please don;t say we're referring to Glen Jphnson as the good full back either? Jesus!

It's always the same. We build average players up to be superstars and then slate them to fcúk when they don;t live up to our unrealistic expectations.

Rooney is the only worldclass player in the team and, yes, with him in the team and on form, you always have a chance. But then again, this is England we're talking about.
