Part of our midfield problem is that none show any composure when shooting. When SKD was laying balls off to JJ, Frandsen, Stelios or Nolan at his best you often expected a goal or decent keeper save. Taylor, Cohen, Gardner, Muamba etc just blast the ball high and wide.
Lee and Klasdnic look to have the ability to pass a ball into the net, Elmander doesnt.
If you watch them warming up around 2.45 the forwards/mids practice hitting a moving ball at goal. Hardly any ever hit the target.

To be honest, i agree with nat, Davies is a complete waste of time for me now and i think most fans are blinded by what he used to add to the team...
Apart from flick on's which we are lucky if he win's 50% of nowadays, what does he actually add? He has no pace, can't beat anyone, can't pass and doesn't close down anymore...
What gets me is that two years ago, he was the worst striker in the squad (excluding vaz te) and now he is the so - called best which really worries me...
End of the day, he should be on the bench by now coming on only if we need a goal in the last 10 mins when all we do is lump it to the edge of the box...
At anfield on saturday, he had been figured out, that greek dude & skrtel let him go for it and then picked up the second ball... Can you actually remember the last time one of these 'flicks' beat the offside trap from open play and someone ran through and got on the end of it and scored? I cant...

Instead of claiming that when Davies is on the pitch the ball just bounces back and we're under pressure, how about looking at the midfield. Time and time again they go missing, sit too deep and invite the opposition on to us. Is it any surprise that Muamba (the defensive one) finds himself closer to goal than the likes of Gardner, Taylor, Cohen, M Davies do. The only attacking midfielder we have that doesn't sit deep is Lee.
To give my opinion on the game, 2-1 to us.
Iv already stated that Taylor and Cohen should be dropped, your right they do go missing and there positioning and reading of the game is shocking, iv just heard Coyle say Elmander this is your chance some where because of Klasnics injury, if its Elmander and Davies upfront we are knackered, they dont complement each other in anyway, its like putting salt in a cup of tea. If i was Coyle i would start with Elmander and if its not working bring Davies on......... |

We did have our differences way back - but I've long moved on from then - and with Billy joining us for the occasional chat - he's shown that he's moved on to.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I look forward to debating with old friends and some new ones. It's a good time for fan forums, with so many of them thriving, and also an interesting time for our club.
