Forget the bland US remake but the original Japanese version of The Ring (I don't mean LOTR) trilogy are horific and puts the US version to shame!!!!

I was well damn scared after watching them - and that does take alot!

Never had the stomach to watch the japaneese Ring. I don't usually find many horror films that scary although I do like alot of horror films, the several Hannibal films-starting with Silence of the Lambs- but even the Americanized version of the Ring was just creepy.

I think The Departed is a great film.

As a fun family type film that I find I can watch over and over again- Catch Me If You Can.

I know it's been mentioned on a previous thread, but Withnail and I is my favourite film of all time.

Quite like American Beauty as well.

The one I like that makes me appear a bit of a gayer is Love Actually (and yes I do own the DVD Shocked)

Can't remember what it's called, but there's a short film about a couple of penguins.

It's a really sad ending, but it's one you can watch over and over again.

Japanese version of The Ring (Ringu) is scary as hell; so is 1428 (think that's the number) with John Cusack.

I'm not big into animated films but Coraline and UP were both very good.

Zero Day is a good one, an independent Columbine film from 2003.

There's another independent one called Fix, about some film-makers junkie brother, which is really good as well.

Children Of Men was brilliant, very bleak and very British.

Dead Man's Shoes is exceptional, filmed in the Peak District and the characters are like everyday idiots you meet in Bolton.

A classic for me is Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead, catch it if you can Cool

Debbie Does Dallas: Captures the angst of teenage years, cameraderie, peer pressure and unrequited love. There are thought-provoking scenes that are meant to provoke discussion, and while it is not for family viewing, it became an enduring classic.

Don't know if it is any good but I've noticed that 'Jarhead' is on ITV4 shortly (10.40) - so I might give it a go -

Gritty Gulf War drama based on a former US Marine's best-selling memoir about his experiences in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Anthony 'Swoff' Swofford makes it through boot camp to become a Marine sniper and is sent to Saudi Arabia where he and his unit wait for action. It takes another 175 days of heat, boredom, tension and worries about girlfriends at home before the fighting actually starts. But when it comes, war does not look the way Swoff expects it to.

It was an exploration of the tedium of the day to day soldier's life in contrast to the tension of conflict.
As such, it was well done.

Remind me never to watch an exploration of the tedium of paint-drying.

Yep. I am taking us down to that level.  Cool

Quid on Sean
50p on Grant
25p on Ryan
25p on Bradley

...awaits abuse.

You queer.

Its Sean and this is the worst acting I have ever seen and the fact they arnt on camera for longer than 30 seconds shows the BBC have no confidence in there acting ability what so ever.

Half the reason I'm on here so much is to avoid TV programmes like Soaps, X Factor, Big Brother, Strictly come dancing on Ice, etc, etc, that Mrs and little Miss Sluffy consider to be essential viewing.

But it now looks as though I can't even escape here anymore!

So I'm starting this new thread where soaper's, Xer's, Strickleyer's, etc can chatter away to their heart's content and leave me in peace to be the grumpy old man that I am!

There's not enough programmes on telly about fat b*stards if you ask me.
Or cooking.

Why has no one else spotted this gap in the market?

I think maybe some of my hormones didn't come out right as I find chick tv is sometimes dull, often annoying, generally mindless & always complete drivel!

I thought 8 Out Of 10 Cats was hilariously funny this evening. I particularly enjoyed David Walliams camping it up and Sean Lock being a grumpy old man.
