Did anyone manage to see it? It wasnt that special but it definatly seems gartside is backing him in the transfer window. The contrast between coyle and megson is unreal, coyle just gives off so much positivity its great to see. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_5852576,00.html

Ive had my girlfriend record it as I cant access it from work but I have no doubts he did us and himself justice. Finally a manager we can be proud of and talk highly about.

I can't see him ever saying "When I came here we were below Burnley" Totally different attitude to Megson, but still realistic. First aim is to get safe this season, then to build next season. Not planning anything fancy in this transfer window, but hoping to do what we need to get us good enough to survive. It all sounds like the right sort of stuff. He also stated he would give the lads already here a fair chance to impress him and that should spark them up and motivate them. A good start, but talk is cheap......I'm still going to wait and see whether we are getting our hopes up too much.

Not only did Owen Coyle refer to us a fans, he actually recognised our importance! Mr Megson would have rather died than admit that.
I just feel so much more positivity to the whole situation now. It doesn't feel like a relegation battle anymore, it feels more like when we we're going for promotion!

Beleive it or not craig we are deep in a relegation battle. Its all good everything positive now but lets see what happens when where on a bad run. Lets see everyones atitude then. I hardly think the crowd will clap at the end of the game if we get beat by burnley.

I've posted another thread with his audio interview link (will merge the two threads later) so it didn't get lost halfway down this thread. This is what Mr Gartside said - Bolton chairman Phil Gartside promised that funds would be available during the transfer window if the former St Johnstone boss wanted to bolster the Bolton squad. "We have never not backed a manager in the transfer window. We have always done some business and it will carry on that way," said Gartside. Gartside added: "I think the fans will embrace Owen for what he is. He is a very bubbly character, he is infectious. He likes what he sees here and that is good enough for me. "We hit it off right away and could have finished (our discussions) in five minutes. We did not have anyone else on the list. "This was the only guy we wanted. You have to remember I recommended him to Burnley in the first place." Loads more here - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bolton_wanderers/8450647.stm

We wont get beat by Burnley and when the inevitable bad run of form comes, we'll deal with it then. At this moment in time, things are looking up and we have a manager who respects us and who is respected by us.

I dont think it will change alot this season as it may have a bad affect trying to change everything all at once, but i do expect us to win more games and stay up this season.

I don't expect the football to change this season full stop. Owen hinted at that in the press conference. He'll get that sorted in the summer (like Megson should have done last summer) and we'll hopefully be playing some better football next season. For the rest of this season, I do expect us to play the so called "ugly football" that worked under Allardyce and under Megson in his first two seasons here.

Its just unlucky for Megson that he had to build from scratch, coyle has the structure there to build on. Another comment that Coyle made was the Supporters should come to support the team. I hope everyone take notice of that.

I hope everyone take notice of that. Megson did alright in his first two seasons. This season was a disaster for him and finally showed everyone that his job was done and a new, more ambitious manager was required. Speaking of: Owen Coyle was right, the fans who were just boycotting Megson need to return now and get behind the team. If they don't, or if they just find another excuse then they're just crap supporters who'd be better off supporting another team!

I remember Big Sam saying that the most important thing at any football club was that the manager was the most ambitious person out of anyone. It's the manager's desire to be successful and drag the club forwards to newer and better things that brings success. From what Coyle is saying he sounds desperate to play in the big matches and the big competitions and achieve everything he can in the game; a great contrast to Megson and his being happy to receive his paycheck. Ambition isn't everything, but it is important......and we now seem to have bags of that.

I do. We won't become Barcelona overnight, but I think SKD will be part of OC's starting 11 for the foreseeable AND I think we'll start to see an improvement immediately. How's that for sticking your neck out - you only have to wait six days to prove me wrong (or right!!)

I have to say that Owen Coyle came across brilliantly in that interview, he seems a clever guy and a very nice chap too, I think the players will love playing for Owen Coyle. I can't wait to see how we do under him. It seems like a long while since we had a manager who seems capable of getting the absolute most out of the players.
