Hey in America not many people play football manager 2010. I dont really understand the complete concept of it but want to purchase it. I currently have the demo. I was just wondering if someone cared to explain it to me? How does it differ online? And whats different from the demo to the real game?

I didnt know you could play it online- well FML(FM Live) which is a seperate online game- which ive never played so i couldn't tell you about.

FM 2010 is just what it says on the tin really, a football management simulation were you take over as manager of any club you want or you can start unemployed. You then control most aspects of the football club but the main bits are simply the transfers and the matches. It is quite detailed if you are new to the brand and many people have gone off it from the earlier games because they are too involved nowadays although I still like it.

I cant remember the demo but I imagine in the demo has limited leagues and you can only play 1 season or half a season. In the real game you can play infinite seasons- ie I'm in 2016/17 with Bolton- new players 'regenerate' into the game as old ones retire, then it becomes a mission for you and your scouts to work out who the best new 'regens' are and build your team up again- you learn which stats for which positions make them good and whatnot.

I'm an admin on a FM fansite, FMDiscussion.com,  so I know quite a bit about it  Smiley

Online, you can create your own team and compete against friends and strangers with your own squads on FMLive, or start a network game (Just like playing FM, but instead of being against the CPU, you are against real people of your choosing). Not many people play network games though, although there are a few communities that cater to that sort of thing.

A "Researcher" watches the team, and decides what stats to give players in the full team, reserve team and youth teams. It's a lot of work, I know the Plymouth Argyle researcher and he spends tens of hours working on an excel spreadsheet that has everyones Names, DOB's, Stats, Wages etc.

The concept of FM is that you take over a club (In over 83 nations) or a Nation (150 or so Nations I think) and manage them just like you would in real life. You decide the tactics, who to buy, who to sell. How much to pay for players, how much to pay your players. You can hire the best staff, and the game never ends. So if you played it enough, you could win the World Cup with San Marino, take FCUM to the World Club Championship all in one career.

It's the best game in the series so far, 10/10 from me Smiley

Sold Hunt on my first week on the job. Brought him back for 500K January 2015. He said he was over the moon and his Dad would be proud he signed for Bolton.  Grin

In my 7 seasons i've won-

3 Premier Leagues
3 FA Cups
4 League Cups
1 Champions League
1 UEFA Cup
1 European Super Cup
2 Community Shields

My team:

          Diego Beniligo

Azpilicueta-Thomas(regen)-Cahill(C)-Romeo(regen)

               -Hamsik-Kacar-

Walcott                                      Elia
                 Dzeko-Due(regen)

Due is the best player on the game imo and my regen CB called Thomas has turned out brilliant but I actually only bought him because his name was Thomas Thomas.  Cool

Liverpool got relegated 2 seasons ago but just got promoted last season with like 113pts.

Grin First season 7th, second season 6th, third season 3rd, fourth season 2nd, won every season since.

Money soon racks up with cup wins, high finishes and european money. My kit sponsors alone pay like 15M p/a first season it was something like 5M p/a.

I usually get 40-60M a season to spend

Dzeko cost me 32M, Walcott 35M and Romeo 40M although in reality he only cost me 2.5M seeing as I sold my other left back Mama Sakho for 37.5M to City like two days before that

I bought this game and I am finding it extremely hard to get my team winning games despite a half decent team. I keep creating new tactics and different formations but nothing seems to be working. What is the secret to a successful formation and tactics on this game?

It's harder on the latest patch I think.

Play a 4-4-2 as it works best against the Match engine and never play a 4-5-1 unless your striker is ridiculously good.

Every 1st of January (In game) go to the Brazil teams, and look in their Youth squads for players, as the "Regens" in Brazil always appear on the 1st of January of every year, you may just pick up the next Kaka.

Try and stick to a tactic as changing them often will not allow your team to settle into it, give it 10 games or so to decide if it's working or not.

What the hell is the point of playing if your going to share tactics and say which players are good and that ,defeats the bloody object of playing.

If you start as a premiership it should be a peice of piss because the players available are already quality.

Your defeating the object of the game by starting with a prem team IMO, nothing like a starting a with a lower league team and getting them promoted, but i suppose theirs nothing like managing the wanderers  Grin

It's actually a challenge playing with Bolton.

I always start low and work my way up, for example I'm in 2018 with Plymouth Argyle at the moment, but you should see how I've got there!

Leagues Loaded:
Argentina
England
France
Italy
Russia
Scotland

Clubs:
I started unemployed, first club to offer me a job was Fleetwood who were 21st in the League after 8 games (I think they sacked their manager a bit early  Roll Eyes )

Fleetwood Town (Eng.) - 203 Days - Promotion from BSN to BSP then resigned

Welling (Eng.) - 212 Days - Missed out on Promotion from BSS so resigned

Instituto de Cordoba (Arg.) 1019 Days - Promotion to the Argentinian Top Flight - Finished 3rd in my second season in the top flight (3rd year overall) and then Resigned due to the Chairman selling my best players without consulting me

Brindisi (Italy) 617 Days - Promotion from Serie C2/C to Serie C1/B and I was 7th in my first season after 16 games when Brescia offered me a job.

Brescia (Italy) 801 days - Started in 18th place in Serie B with 16 games gone, got them promoted via the play-offs thanks to 17 games unbeaten in the League. Finished 13th in my first Serie A season but then was 18th after 14 games in my second year in the Serie A and was sacked for no reason  :'(

Plymouth (Eng.) Present - Declared my interest in the Plymouth Job and they sacked Sturrock the next day and offered me the job which I took. In my second season now. They're still in the Championship but have no money and are badly in debt. I'm going to stick with these until I get them promoted unless a club from Russia/Scotland/France come calling for me as they're the only nations I've not managed in.

Also had a 12 month spell as Tunisia manager where I finished 4th in the African Cup of Nations and was Italy U21 manager for a year while I was with Brescia.

To keep it Bolton-related, BWFC are in League 1 at the moment, narrowly avoiding relegation to League 2 last year  :'(

Great game so far I must say! I started with the Lowest Reputation possible too (Sunday League footballer)

Fair enough ill give you that, thats a good game, i think the best ive ever done on FM's series was last year:

Started off as the england manager for one season then took over leicster and got them promoted whilst also being england manager, i then left leicster and then took over southampton who had been relegated so i took them up to the championship in the same summr i won the world cup with england  Cool ......i left southampton and was offered the chelsea job but got bored and now im on FM10  Grin

Just been offered the Burnley job  Roll Eyes

They've managed to stay in the PL and it's 2018, but they came up against me (Plymouth) in the League Cup and played a youth team while I spanked them 6-1 and they sacked their manager and I was linked with the job.

Did you see what the Newcastle fans had at the NUFC - Argyle game?

A big flag with "F*ck off Ditmar Van Nostrilboig you Janner C*nt" on it. I must admit, I laughed  Grin
