I have a relative that works on the trains* and s/he said that the reason why the trains are delayed so much is because they have to do a check every time the train stops to make sure the brakes and all that are ok, it's not because they're going slower or anything. Just a little fact for you all, but I would definitely avoid them!

*tried to make it a bit more ambiguous rather than stating who the relative is and what company they work for... don't want any more stalking going on by a certain forum member!

Surely you're not suggesting Natasha works on the trains?  Wink

Been at the hospital all morning and some of their staff walked for miles because there is no public transport. If they can get into work then everybody else should too.

I never had a snow day at school and I only left in 2005, health and safety my arse!

Only cos the NHS staff have been threatened with a day's pay being docked if they don't get in.

I think we only ever got sent home once in the 5 years that I was in secondary school and that was due to failed heating but other than that we was always in there.

It isnt just snow days , Im sure kids in general are off every 5 minutes. I dont remember being off from school that much.

Us oldies were off a lot due to the teachers' strikes in the early 80s.

IT'S BACK!

Been raining for most of the day but currently snowing near Four Lane Ends. Layer of snow over the car windscreen but not quite sticking to the road yet. I've had enough of snow for at least 25 years!

I envy you.  It's not snowed here in Bakersfield for 10 or 11 years.

Don't envy us. After 2 months of constant snowing over Christmas and New Year, the novelty quickly wore off. It's been trying to snow for most of the day but it's probably not cold enough so keeps coming down as sleet.
